harvesting/bang/dead

hello
can anyone help
when i started harvesting it was all going well
but then bang the first time i was killed outright (respawn)
then when it happend again i lost half my health points
so could any body tell me what im doing wrong
thank you.
id be most greatfull for any help.

use gentle actions not aggressive. harmful rate is ok mostly, speed and q should be gentle until you have the care plans available to deal with the unstable sources resulting from their use.

it's more subtle than this but imo i wouldnt start worrying about source modes just yet (i assume you are lv11 forage or so?) If the risk bar is about to expire (and cause either gas or explosion) press crtl s to stop your action.

Despite early appearances foraging requires an active effort and some thought, you cant just start digging and wander off to make some tea ;)

You're not doing anything wrong :) .
However, I think you've just leveled above level 10. At that level, the source modes become dangerous and sometimes lethal ;) .
(you can check your source mode in the sys info window).
What you want to do, is keep the orange bar from dropping completely. That's achieved either by learning "source preservation", or by stopping the action (ctrl S) before the source explodes.

Yep. Unfortunately on the Ruins of Silan, you'll have to rely on careplans (which are expensive at the start and really begin being efficient enough with careplans #2) and gentle Qualtity, since there is no gentle speed stanza on the starter isle...in case you started looking for them. One of the few restrictions to sadden a passionate harvester ;) In fact, all rate and speed stanzas are unavailable there, one more reason to join the mainland :D

Also try and do the fighter missions first and boost your hp, then you will be able to withstand such blasts and poison clouds.

No, one can always train other skills at any time. Just take up a weapon of your choice and go hunting. Better, find a team and hunt together ;)

The picks at character creation only give you a slight beginning advantage in one of the areas, nothing you can't change at anytime.
