I'm neutral now, but before the outposts where aroud I was kami. It's not that hard to do, I did a mission whenever I saw the kami welcomers (usually killing kitins). my fame slowly went up over time.
You could experience problems if you go kami, set up a guild hall in yrkanis, and wear your tag. You can, however, buy a guild hall, and apartment, packers, or anything (really) in any land you want.
If you ask around someone will be happy to help you get to the other lands.
