Hey,
Having started Ryzom roughly 2 weeks ago and moved to the mainland 2 days ago, i've run into the new option of Ranged Fighting.
Being someone that rather keeps my enemy's at distance, i find Root together with Acid/Cold my best friend in my adventured on Atys so far.
However i do not want to let my fight skills drop too far behind, i've tried going the regular way (2H sword + heavy armor) but i find this way too mindnumbing and totally not my style of play (no offence to people that do play that way, its just not my cup of tea). Ranged Fighting on the other hand is something that got my interest from the start, however soon after i bought a ranged-weapon i was somewhat disapointed by the damage compared to 2H melee weapons of its level.
My question is: Is range fight (and range fight only) a realistic way to work up my fighting tree ?
Thanks in advance for the awnsers.

Re: Question about Ranged Fight
range is doable, first you must get a good gun with max speed, then get appropriate ammo for the mob(i like most plants) your fighting with good damage stat, then shoot em, for mobs that move ,the run and shoot tactic works well

Unless i am mistaken the speed comes from the ammo. At least thats what I have been told...dollly wrote:range is doable, first you must get a good gun with max speed, then get appropriate ammo for the mob(i like most plants) your fighting with good damage stat, then shoot em, for mobs that move ,the run and shoot tactic works well

Re: Question about Ranged Fight
Speed and range from the gun, only stats on gun worth worrying about atm, and from the ammo you get your damage.
On ammo you really need to be using 100/100 damage stat ammo but this isnt hard to acheive.

Re: Question about Ranged Fight
In my experience the main thing you want is the max damage ammo and the ammo needs to be of a type that your prey doesn't have armor against.
You can work with a gun that isn't at max speed or max range especially if your killing plants. For plants you will want jewelry that offers high resistance for whatever type of spells the plants cast.

Re: Question about Ranged Fight
umm stats on ammo apart from dmg dont do anything (lightness maybes but it dont matter)naratuul wrote:Unless i am mistaken the speed comes from the ammo. At least thats what I have been told...
dmg on the gun doesnt matter either so its range + speed meaning hunting some funky bosses to get the max

realistic way to go up all tree maybes.. fight tree no way just too much down time

ranged does = max fun, but tough to make a team work properly (for ye)
also there used to be a "bug???" where ye could enchant yer gun wit a nice elespell fire the gun once then zap the monster to kill it which well was a nice "get out clause"
ps...dunno who crafts guns about but G does a bit

Re: Question about Ranged Fight
The wear out weapon stanza looked interesting so I've tried it. Its only good for a single attack (it doesn't repeat itself) and in just one fight I lost 10+ hp from my gun. My grind guns normally have 100-150 hp so to use the wear stanza as a regular attack I'd be replacing the gun several times in a hunting trip. (normal kill is 20-30 shots for me)
