It also could be that they think you are Mabreka :P
I don't know. I've player a few other MMOs and beging was never liked from the communties in them. I certainly haven't played them all though so maybe I've just been lucky.

I've run into a few beggars - i try to help as much as i can, and my friends only know how tired i've gotten from weeks upon weeks of helping - but i understand where Z is coming from - seeing as how we don't really recruit as much into our guild and each recruit is taken care of personally (bootcamp and such) - its a bit different seeing other guilded 'cruits asking for stuff.

i wonder if we are just getting a younger crowd? someone should do another age poll :p (and we'll get all you stragglers who hit the 'just under 40' area last time too! Old, OLD! *cackles and heads back to the art studio*)

Beggars have been around in mmorpgs ever since Ultima Online - why should Ryzom be an exception? In any game where you have a population of players there will always be those who try to take advantage of other's goodwill....

Conversation witnessed today (though not on Atys ;) )...

Player 1: "hello"
Player 2: "Hello"
Player 1: "do u hav money"
Player 2: "Yes, about 18 mil."
Player 1: "can i hav sum money tks"
Player 2: "Yes"
...
...
Player 1: "can i hav sum money"
Player 2: "Yes, there are plenty of ways to earn it and no thieves to steal it from you. Everyone can have money!"
Player 1: "#%$#$@*"

:D
And I have to agree with this sentiment. There is no excuse for begging. Dapper is not hard to come by and there's usually enough lowbie gear on the merchants to get by with. if not, there's almost always someone around the major stables that you can ask about a crafter - and most times if you offer to buy you will be given the item free anyway. Begging is just plain rude.

I have occasionally come across the beggar phenomenon.. but what i find more pften is that I will recive a rell from a player I have never heard of who will priceed to ask me if i can help them..
This is a bit odd as I never know how then knew who I was lol...
I usually try to help them and often find that they are players with commnication difficulties (english not first language etc) either this or they are very young players..
What you have to remember is with very young players they do not have the same work ethic that is developed in RL as an older player.. EG they get fed watered and clothed by thier parents and are given presents by them.
This translates to the gaming world.
Cant blame them really...
