I like it, Nevrax have been consistantly adding to the game, patch 1 is soon (seeing as its already on the test server) and if they keep to the rate they have been devoping it, I'll be happy :)

My reasoning is easy:

- what games come out soon? EQ2/WOW/GuildWars

* I hated EQ, and more because of SOE's attitude and the general direction of the game than because of game flaws. SOE's made SWG and PlanetSide as well, I can't say I'm pleased with any of those three games evolution

* WoW : nothing new. Polishing old stuff is fine, but doesnt bring anything new. Dune 2 was a cool game, great innovative concept but had some flaws Warcraft was a well executed rip off which improved on those flaws, and WoW will just be a mmorpg which improves on flaws made by others... in the world of warcraft. What do we know of Blizzard's experience in mmorpg? they have done nothing of that scale before, what do we know of their network use? oh boy.... diablo premium.

* GuildWars: the concept seemed fine... except for the "instanced" part; rules that out for me... feels like phantasy star online to me.

- what other games are out there worth playing, if they add expansions?

* probably DAOC with catacombs... but having an european account I can wait a loooong time, we don't even have new frontiers yet. Too little too late.

* others... well... if they had anything that would keep me playing them; I'd be playing them and not ryzom right ?

So the choice is between staying on a mmorpg; ryzom with it's flaws and hoping they will solve the biggest issues, or stop playing mmorpg's and get bored until something interests me... but Ryzom shows potential and I see no reason not to play it at this point; which is still only 1 month into release after all...

Now who knows if in 6 months a new big mmorpg comes out with tons of original ideas ... preferably a PvP one :D

I'm keen to stick with Ryzom and I really want it to be successful my only concern is that I don't want to be one of few playing it  as I'm about to fork out for the years subscription!

I guess the outcome of the pole will lead me to decide what subscription I choose. Perhaps 6 months would be a wiser choice than the year, a lot can happen in a year ;)

Signed up for 6 month and I am sticking along at least that long. I still have too little time for all the things i want to get done in one day.

In for the long haul.....
played it in OB1
tested it in FBT
played it in Final Beta

Bought it in retail.

Still not bored, still not achieved my goals.

GMs - always helpful.
Dev team - responds very quickly and work very hard to add/change stuff
Story line for 8 years - its got planned life
Community - is great

If it contiunes to be developed at the rate it has been over the last 6 months It will continue to be a great game.

They only thing that will stop me playing is if the community dies or changes are made to it make it unplayable (The nerf bat/buff bat culture).

At the end of the FBT/Open beta the game was less buggy than it was at release. (I can understand this, as it takes time to press the CDs and get them out the door)

The speed at which they fixed the lag issues was great!

i'm having way too much fun at the moment. May change my opinion when the novelty wears off. Hopefully by then they will have added more content.

As long as they keep it fresh, they'll keep getting my cash
(until something better comes along!)

Signed up for 3 months, going nowhere until then. With the cancellation of both Warhammer and Dragon Empires I can't see myself leaving. Not a great fan of SOE and WoW does not appeal to me.

I've no intention whatsoever to play WoW/EQ2, just not my cup of tea, thus I'll stick with Ryzom for the time being. How long that will be depends on how fast and good Nevrax can produce the missing bits of the game.
