So I am going through the trial island and enjoying it. But I have not figured out how to put together the skills I am learning in the best ways because I do not fully understand how stanzas work....is there a guide?
Also, once you get a subscription, do your skills increase dramatically from the get go? I looked at a new player guide briefly and I noticed he had thousands of hit points. I have about 400 so far after about 25 hours of game time.
Is it best to learn every skill on the island on one character? That is what I am doing just so I get a better idea of how everything works.
I like teaming, but one thing that annoys me about teaming it is is a little too easy to get credit for completing the mission when you are with a group of characters far above your skill level....and I thought to myself, you could probably go through the entire game like this, just have people in your guild give you super powerful items and destroy everything in your path to help level you up....which brings me to my next point....is the game the most fun when you find a small group of people that you like gaming with online and just leveling up your characters with them, together, rather than joining a guild and just getting the steroided up rapidly - or does the game have ways of preventing that from happening, and is the guild experience fun for other reasons such as PvP and Outposts.
Anyways, thanks for answering any and all questions in advance, just trying to learn a few things here....this game kind of scares me because I can see it potentially eating up a lot of my time.....but in another way I guess that is what I wanted....
Where can I learn how to make the best use of my skill trees and other questions
Re: Where can I learn how to make the best use of my skill trees and other questions
there are no classes and you can learn EVERY skill to its max (250)..but there are lots of skills as they branch off and become more specific as you progress.
Start by doing all the tasks on the island, then you will understand the game mechanics and know what you like/dislike.
Crafting depends on the materials collected, either digging or hunting. So you can be self sufficient..though there are many benefits to digging and hunting with another.
Your spend your points earned on either skills or stat increases. Some/many itmes require specific stat minumims before you can use/wear them.
The unique feature that we all find confusing is the STANZA (the abilty to edit your skills).
You can spend your points earned in an area you later decide is 'wasted', but don't worry as you can earn more...so you only slow your progress instead of losing an option.
I am sure others will reply with more information (and clearer) soon.
That just leaves me to say WELCOME !!!!

Re: Where can I learn how to make the best use of my skill trees and other questions
I don't know of any guides ... but I think of stanza and 'action' as the same thing.
As an example you can build a fight stanza (or action) that do all of the following:
Accuracy (better chance to hit the target)
Increase damage (more damage per hit)
Aim body part (head, hands, legs, ect if you get a critical hit the effects vary according to body part)
These actions have to be balaced with a 'credit' or how you are paying for using those effects.
For combat you will get credits for stamina and hp. so you will also have at least one of the following but could have both.
hp cost 2
stamina cost 2
If you have more credits then options your sucsess rate will increase. This is visible at the bottom of the stanza window. It will also show you the cost in terms of hp and stamina for using the stanza.

Re: Where can I learn how to make the best use of my skill trees and other questions
-Hp and Characteristic stanzas:
To increase your HP you have two possibilities:
- first one which is not trainors dependant is ur equipment: if you go to jewel merchant, you will noticed that some jewels on sale have HP boost: buying them and equiping them will allow you to boost your HP using money and not skill point.
The effect obviously only last while you have the jewels equiped.
- Second possibility to increase HP is through the trainors:
there are two kind of "Skills/stanzas' which you can byfrom trainor:
1- Some are characteristic stanzas and are linked to the actual stats of your character (they have usually a black background and a tear of color as symbol:
Red: HP and HP recovery (constitution and ...) - Fighter
Pink: Stamina and stamina recovery (Strenght and balance) - Fighter
Green: Sap and sap recovery (intelligence and...) - Mage
Blue: Focus and focus recovery (will and focus?) - Harvest
If you press P , you will see on top right of windows the characteristics and on the left part on same line what they are related to.
Those are VERY IMPORTANT and should always be maxed: one new upgrade will be available of each king every 5 lvls: thos boost your HP, Stamina, Focus, Sap pool and recovery rate.
2- The other stanzas are linked to actions, not to player characteristics.
- Fight action (inc dmg, acc atk)
- Magic actions (spells)
- Craft actions: crafting branches and lvl stanza + plans.
- Harvest actions: Prospecting, harvesting....
Some as well are actions which will temporarily boost your characteristics:
Aura increase regeneration rate.
Self heal restore part of your HP, sap... (those have cool down period).
Most of the action need a credit corresponding to their cost as explained in previous post.
But you then need to consume HP, stamina, sap or whatever u used as credit eaxh time the action is used.. Hence importance to have those as high as possible: ref characteristics...
gameplay
It is indeed better to learn the different trees on the same character: learning more than one branch or just pushing up some of your lower lvl branches of same skill: training 1h melee when your main tree is 2h melee for instance will give you more skill points and will increase the possibility of learning new stanzas.
As well, been able to do more than one thing is very good remedy against boredom
Concerning the teaming/powerlvling/guild vs team, you can do both: been in a guild should not stop you from adding other player in friend list and to go play with them whenever you feel like it.
You are right to fear the powergrinding-leveling but this is all down to you: you can just level your own pace, have fun, discover the world, make new friends...
The fact of wanting to lvl one or two trees at max as soon as possible will fast get you bored and will make you lost interest in the game. Then you might just stop playing without having discovered most of what this game-world has to offer...

Re: Where can I learn how to make the best use of my skill trees and other questions
Do you ever stop gaining skill points in a tree? Can I ever "max" my fighter tree so I can't get any more skill points, but I still have skills I'll never be able to buy?
Re: Where can I learn how to make the best use of my skill trees and other questions
If you max one branch (ie 2H axe lvl 250) you can no longer get any more skill pointts using 2H axe. However, you can go and use another weapon for more points, like a 1H axe. If you will have enough points to buy everything if you work a few branches for a while.mythin wrote:Do you ever stop gaining skill points in a tree?
