I'm a carebear, will I like Ryzom?

I'm pretty burned out with WoW and EQ2, so I'm looking for a new game. I'm downloading the trial version of Ryzom as I write this. However, I don't like to PvP. It sounds from what I've read on the site that getting to the best crafting materials and places requires PvP'ng. Is that right? Will I enjoy this game and have a shot at getting end-game gear if I don't PvP?

Ryzom for now is very little pvp based, if you want pvp and are willing to look for it you will find it, but if you dont you can avoid it totally, there is no reason at all to be involved in pvp if you dont want to be, supreme materials (the best in game) as found across atys, some are in pvp zones alot more arnt

And just because there are materials that are in PvP zones, doesn't mean you'll experience PvP even if you go there and harvest.

Also, there is no such thing as "endgame gear," or even "endgame." There is well-crafted quality250 gear, and a very nice q200 set of heavy armor dropped by a boss NPC named Aen, but these aren't exclusive to a nonexistent concept.

no need at all to be in a PvP enabled zone to gather the best materials, think you'll enjoy ryzom

You don't have to do PvP at all. I don't and have never felt there isn't enought to do.

Ryzom caters to both factions (pro and anti-pvp), although the more recent content has favoured the pro-PvP.

I read this somewhere, does other stuff drop too? If so, know any sites that outline these?

Long ago there were Bandit boisses for each Race.. but now only Aen remains.
She drops a full set of Armour..the gold robocop jobbies that you may have seen some of us wear.
Other than that the only other item drops are from the primitives.. (Gibbai, Cute, Frahar)
The Named and Boss variations of these guys drop Supreme Jewels. near full set for a BOss less for a named etc..
Some of these sets are quite nice and can be handy for bringing your resists up a little for PVP if you are unable to get Sup Jewels via other means..
I hear tell that there will be rewards in the new Kitin Lair area as well.. though nothing has been confirmed afaik.
