Game takes a FREAKING long time to load!

Post by doomith1 »

I open Ryzom and log in and get to the char selection screen and then go play.
The first few bars load up quick, then about a 2-3 min wait for the next bars to load up, but it takes over ten minutes for the last bar to load :|
And then I get "please wait" message. Im 90% sure I can fix the please wait by pinholing my router but.. the wait time to load is just insane!

Spec:

AMD Athlon 2000+
768 Ram (generic)
Win2K
Plenty of free space
Geforce4 TI4800se

So... any help would be neato. Im also trying to load it with sound off and graphics an minimum..

Sounds like you have some corrupted character configuration files.
Go to the SAVE folder (c:\program files\ryzom\save usually) and delete the files for the character in question. Be warned that nay map markers and macros will be deleted.

Just to add to this. It is a good idea to back up the character folders to a different location fairly frequently. Things like the markers, macros and, I think, the action bars are stored on your local hard disk (as implied by Zerlin) and may get lost if the game or computer crashes.
