. . .
These outposts are not held by virtue of any hegemony. The have remained in the same hands since launch because no one has challenged them at all, not because "hegemons" were there to keep them from changing hands.
I think you misunderstand my meaning. By hegemony, I do not mean an alliance (e.g. KA) or aggressors. What I am tryng to name is the established power structure that is so firmly entrenched. The guilds such as BM, Evo, Nexus, I would include in the power structure not because they are factional, belong to any alliance, or are aggressive. My opinion of them is that they are all very friendly, generous, and peaceful guilds. I would include them because they are part of the long established status quo.

Frankly, I'm not a big fan of my original idea either, because it simply substitutes one form of tyranny for another. Really what I am hoping for in this thread are ideas that would lead to a more dynamic OP situation, given that the game mechanics are what they are. The suggestions regarding how to improve the mechanics, I think many of them are great, but I'm more interested in dealing with the game as it is.

I'd even like to see the KA lay it all down and take over ALL the OPs and hold them for as long as they could. I believe that they could if they made the effort and could have for months now. I say that because I believe it would in the end lead to the breaking of alliances along factional lines and result in a more dynamic situation. Unfortunately they have shown an admirable amount of restraint. Their leaders are unfortunately not nearly maniacal enough for the good of the game.

You have some decently thought out idea's... and in the spirit of the way you have written it I would say go for it. As long as it is members of the community rising up (The new Hegemony ?) it's all good. If the Dev's change anything they will cause another exodus.

There are guilds less than 6 months old holding outposts currently, I fail to personally see where the problem arises in newer guilds owning outposts. Newer players are another issue entirely, and when they grow up they will make their play for an outpost and be rewarded according to their efforts.

The guilds (friend and enemy) are what hold an outpost, as mentioned in other posts there are OP's that don't see much strife... whether it be location or politics this is not what the others have and will face. Take away anything that guilds have paid much into and defended will only result in more losses to our great community. We will defend our OP's to the last man, but if the dev's take one of these idea's about dynamically rotating things.... there will be an uproar.

It's dynamic enough that we have to get up at 2 AM to defend against a fake attack or full fledged assault.

hahaha, I'm glad you see things the way we do - it's been discussed a few times whether we should be pushing to take all OPs, but we have always come to the decision that it would just lead to more complaints than it was worth. Personally I'd disagree with you that it would lead to the "breaking down of alliances along factional lines" (at least I disagree about the so-called KA breaking down), but then I disagree with the commonly held belief that such a group would begin squabbling amongst itself once there was no one else to fight. :o
