So i start this discussion thread what can be done on the "full tank" job.
acually you have:
- dmg increase:
You can mix it with ignore armor (pierce) slow (smash) and bleeding (slash).
You can add circular attack to this special attack if there are more than 1 enemy
You can add all the "hit to ... " specialisatzions (wich have absolutley no effect like "hit to human head" don´t stuns, you just hit your target on the head every hit)
You can add acurate attack to hit your target most of the time
but ffs, what do you really need?
you need dmg increase in the correct lvl, and hmmmm nothing else because your offense affliction mages will blind them (or elemental mages will blind it with double missle spells with dmg spells combinated)
at the moment playing a tank is much more boring than harvesting.
so what can be done?
.) add positional styles and style combos to tanks.
e.g.: sidestyle combos (from dark age of camelot - blademaster)
you start with an attack from the side. the first hit does low dmg but stuns your oponent for 3 seconds, the use after style does more damage and has a bleeding effekt and the use after 2nd will do a lot of damage without an effect.
other example: backstylecombos
your first backstyle does a snare effect and does low dmg, the second does high damage without an effect.
or add youse after dodge/parry combos to tanks. yes i know there are "after dodge/parry" credits but the effect is the same, you have just a new credit.
but what if there is a style wich can only be activated after the dodge style wich makes e.g. slow or stun or bleeding?
wouldn´t it be more interessting to play a tank when you have more options than clicking on your assist macro and the damage increase effekt?
you may say that a tank is nice to play when you have 2 or 3 or [x] enemys to taunt. but thats just bullsh... you can´t hold 3+ oponents with your single taunt and you will not hold the aggro with your damage when the healer/off mage starts casting their higher spells.
at the moment leveling a tank (or caster) is to have an assist macro on the guy who pulls the mob and your damage increase style.
assist - damage increase - (maybe loot) - assist - damage increase - (maybe loot) - assist - damage increase - ..........
i know that a caster is nothing better to play than a tank, but as offense or defense mage you have at least your cool animations and can play with them to mix it in double spells to get different animations
in fact leveling is not really a challenge, harvesting is a biger challenge than lvling a tank, caster, healer so i think there has to be done a lot of work to keep people playing this game.

To have fun get a small group together and head to places that are just managable. Those are the places you will have fun.
Leveling as a harvester is as boring as leveling anythign else. Most boring is lvling craft.
I only level if I really have to and just do fun things and the level will rise eventually anyhow.

I personally think not, this game is about the journey not the destination. A fight is a fight, what ever actions you have too had it is still a case of double click your main attack and use the openings when they become activated.
IF you want excitement, change the way you play. If having a magic user with blind makes it 'too easy' don't group with the magic user.
As Sky says, it up to you to make the fun out of your actions.
You have chosen to be bored by the choices you have made. The game is as boring/interesting as YOU want it to be.
Take the 'shaman' event for example.
If people choose not to take part, they have no reason complain about lack of content. The GMs are working hard to give us things to do. Grasp these things with both hands and get involved.
If XP and levels are your only reason to play, It will be a short lived game.
All skill trees are about repetition, try not to think of it in terms of gaining XP and levels. This is the main cause of a game becoming 'boring' and why lots of people give-up before they really get going.
Ask yourself why you need to kill a mob, harvest a resoure or make an item. If you are lacking a reason why, there is no real point in doing that thing.
I personally can harvest for hours, I need the mats for crafting missions - to get money - to get a guild house.
The reason is the guild house. The harvesting is something, 'work', that needs to be done to acheive this. I am think 1 more mat will move our guild closer to its goal, not 'harvesting is boring cas I have a single action that will give me XP'.
These are just my opinions on the game and life in general.
If you don't have a reason why, then why do it!

it won´t make any difference than beeing lvl 150 or 50 or 1.
a shaman is also the same, klick on the second healer in your team, then press sap/heal bomb and repeat it.

well, i´m lvl 103 desert and 125 prime roots harvester, 103 def affliction mage, 60 standard healing magic, and about 35 offense mage so i also know the other side aswell.
but thats not the point.

Err... PvP is there. If you expect full all out pvp, I guess it'll be possible on a different server if they make the pvp server a reality, in which case leveling here is irrelevant.
What makes you think PvP would be more challenging than hitting two buttons with the current system?

How many games offer more than that? DAOC had styles for tanks, but even positional styles where just chained... that's not tactics, and it's not necessarily fun either. Reactionary styles, that'd be nice... problem is that only the main tank would get to use them. I fail to see how someone could implement an interesting combat system in a mmorpg and keep it balanced;
Personally I think mmorpg's should get rid of the XP and level displays; they're causing more whines because people look at them as an achievement, ... slaying a nasty monster, and reaching your goals of gathering the necessary mats for your guild's crafter, getting paid for it would be the achievement, not the 3kxp ad nauseam till level, run to trainer, run to monster, loop.

Based on you levels - You have put a lot of time into the game. The projection was 6 months for a 30 hour a week player to reach lvl 250 in a single branch.
You have exceeded this with in 1 month of release, I fully understand why bored would set in. If it has had you entire focus for this period of time.
No computer game I have ever found, will statisfy a large amount of constant play.
My friend, eats computer games and finds the most efficent way of doing something very quickly. A single player game will last at most 6-10 hours of play and then be complete. This is not a fault in either the game or the player of the game. Its just the simple fact that in a controlled evironment, the limits can always be reached. The time to reach these limits is time available and skill.
The suggestion of not teaming with the magic users was not to break you away from you friends/guild, it was to change your play style for super efficient leveling/XP to a more challenging way of fighting.
I would have to say that if you personally have reached the limits of the game in this short time period, no additions would last long enough for you or satisfy your needs.
If you were given a hundred different fight styles, would you use them or find the one or two that give the best results and then focus on them alone?
Take magic as the example there are many spells to imobilise mobs, but blind is the most effective. As you say why would anyone use anything else.
And your aim to be ready for PvP ... I am sure the majority of players will not be anywhere near the levels you have reached by then. So you will be ready but there will not be many others for you to fight. (I could be wrong, but I can only spare 10-15 hours a week and I am only just reaching the 50-60s in each skill. It maybe that I am the in the minority (a casual gamer) and everyone else has much more time to spend on the game.
I am only offering suggestions on how to approach you problem with being bored, which have a reason (which you have) and vary what you do (which you do). If your reason isn't big enough to overcome the steps that are required to reach it. Then there is nothing that will remove that boredom.

wel hivewasp thats correct what you say about other games, but they are available to use and you can use different styles with different effects and chains, and you don´t have to be claimed on 2button action.
you CAN use diffrent styles in other games like AO, SWG, DAoC, but at the moment in SoR you have damage increase and that´s it.
