LOL, sounded very romantic until then :D

Wonderful work, Komissar! I remember when I first entered Zora I wondered about the strange signs on their beautiful banners and if they might mean something. For about 5 seconds :)

Thanks mates ;)

It is true I have never been to the lands of the maya.. All the studies I conducted where based on someone else's photos...

But I do love languages, deciphering old ones and making new ones up :) So these zorai pictograms where just what I like so much ;)

I'm afraid Riveit that even if the spiral designs on the tryker buildings have a meaning they are almost impossible to decipher...

The only other two things that can be deciphered in Ryzom imho are the matis writing: http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m312 ... hot274.jpg and the kami writing: http://www.ryzom.com/multimedia/screens ... fullscreen

However they are both alphabet based and I am 95% sure that the initial phrases were in french. That language I do not know alas. The only phrase in matis writing is the 12 symbol one that repeats itself, encircling the tree-houses. 12 symbols is not enough imho... well not enough for my skills anyways :) The kami writing could be deciphered however if the researcher in charge would be a french-speaking one :D

What fyros symbols? Maybe I have missed something...

A short master-class in deciphering alphabet based-ciphers ;)

Deciphering alphabetic scripts is not that tricky really. First you look at those letters that are repeating more often than others - usually it means they are vowels. Then when you have a set of possible variants for each you go for 2-3 letter words (better yet same words that repeat themselves throughout the text) these are either prepositions or things like "the" "a" (forgot the term. It's called artickel in russian :) After that you start browsing through the text putting in various "kinda deciphered" vowels and the like. It helps a lot when there are things like names of people or places that you already know. It would be Ma-duk in the kami writing for example. So going on like this you get as many letters as possible and then start deciphering the sentences checking for errors in collected letter info and filling (guessing) gaps. Do that until you have ALL letters and voila :)

As for the affliction and heal spell symbols hmm.. those are very much alike with some zorai ones and some kami ones but I could say for sure given screenshots of them.

The ones on the roads in Burning Desert (Imperial Dunes and a little in Oflovak's Oasis, as far as I know). I'm very curious about them as well.

only 6 :) that wouldn't be enough even for an uber researcher :D
And don't forget not all symbols should make sense initially :)
