2 new trykers, guild hunting

Post by cdecoa2m »

Greetings and Salutations,

Hello, this is Klymene here, Tryker newbie on the Mainland for 2 days. So far I have been to Crystalbell on some missions, killed/help killed several dozen Strong & Vicious Kipiee (and miscellaneous others), and harvested Choice Lake materials around Fairhaven. Everything is very big, feeling slightly overwhelmed but in a good way. I am still setup and using most of my stuff from ‘newbieland’, glad I kept all those sets of armor, helps greatly when switching tasks/jobs.

I enjoy doing pretty much everything in game, as it all kind of goes hand in hand. I do not have an “I MUST DO THIS, AND ONLY THIS” plan. However, I am working on my melee weapon crafting, making magic hands. I will most likely continue on that path for crafting. Same for two handed weapons for now, I don’t want to get to far up, as I might want to go with the 1 handed weapon. The sword & dagger combo are/seem quite nice. I would also like Ranged weapons. So yea, I want it all just like everyone else. 

I have about 3 years of MMO experience, Earth and Beyond for 6 months (left before it got canceled), EvE online for 2 years (started 2nd account 6 months in to game). I left Earth and Beyond because I never seemed to find my place, it was very limited, not a wide variety. While EvE is huge, it wasn’t very customizable, and no matter what I could never catch up to the higher level characters. I was in 4 ‘corporations’ in EvE (aka guilds, but slightly different), 2 of which where in an alliance (groupings of corporations). The smaller corps where more closely knit, though you couldn’t do it all. The large ones could do it all, if only they could organize. I spend an entire day waiting to get everything together, only to have it fall apart due to time limitations. Granted that was a very large corporation (+300 characters), with allot of dead weight, and poor organization/communication.

So on to the meat… What I want/would like is a guild that does a bit everything of course. Seriously though, I don’t want to be endlessly slashing at monsters all day, nor harvesting. I have no problems with participating in guild ‘events’, harvesting and giving all to guild, same for fighting monsters or being the healer, again giving all to guild. I would expect such things, but also expect a return. Not always free items, but information (harvest spots, recopies, etc), assistance with my missions, access to better crafters, etc.

So the main points are:
• Organization – Group activities, some similar level people so I can work with them, and they I. (no fun working with people with double or triple the level I do)
• Communication – Forums are a plus, teamspeak/ventrillo (can use either program). Website (not required).
• Active – Though I live in New York (EST and no not the city), my work schedule is more of Mountain Time (GMT -7), I work the equivalent of an 8am – 5pm shift MST. I have no issues with a mixed guild of Euro thru US timezones, but would want a fair number in USA.
• Fairhaven area of operation, at least for now or have a presence there, as I am newbie, still have allot to do there, but still want to work with/participate with guild.
• RP – I have never done this, not totally opposed, but don’t want to ruin someone else’s experience. Though I am willing to try it with a bit of help.

Also I have a “partner in crime”. We met up in a corporation in EvE, and due to matching schedules, often worked together, for about 2 years. We both left the same time, and have been searching for a new MMO. We would be coming as a package; it’s a 2 for 1 special! His skills are basically the same as mine, though slightly lower. I will have him post a reply in this thread also.

So yea, that’s basically it. Feel free to contact me in game “Klymene”. I am eager to explore available options. I should be on between 8:00pm – 12:00 pm EST. Also I will be watching this thread for replies, etc.

As reference to get an idea of where I am/fit, here is my current skill list:
1 Handed Melee 51
2 Handed Melee 60 1/7th
Close Combat 51
Range Fight 28
Defensive Magic 42 1/2
Offensive Magic 41
Armor Crafting 32 3/4
Jewel Crafting 28 2/5
Melee Crafting 29 1/5
Range Crafting 22 1/5
Lake Forage 52 1/7
All other Forage 51

<-- Partner in crime. Ksuil in game

stats will be updated once I get home from work and can check on them.

One thing that comes to mind, after my experiences in SWG (almost 3 years ago) and EvE (2 years there) is that I would like a guild that is willing to invest in us. Not just have us as another member.

Will update this post with more thoughts later

Hmm, first off-I skimmed your long post, so if I am repeating something..oops.

If you wish to follow the Karavan Faction, I recommend Evolution, they are an awesome group-I can't say much about if they use TeamSpeak/Vent..and I think their "time zone" is varied. (I'll let someone from Evo tell you more about them)

If you wish to follow the Kami Faction, I recommend Team Spirit, I think TS is the only Tryker-Kami guild. We dont use Teamspeak/Vent much, and I know there are many members in varied locations around the world. I've been told that Team Spirit is slowing down on recruiting, since we've gained a lot of members lately-but worth a shot :P Um, there is almost always a team going somewhere-and we have many new members for you and yours to level with. Also, Tryker guild..so based in Fairhaven.

Sorry, we are leaning towards Karavan affiliation... but might be able to be swayed, have to be something pretty sweeeeeet.

First of all, welcome to our giant rootball, Atys!

Secondly, we are harvesters and crafters primarily, who hunt and mage to hone our skills for more harvesting and crafting, since the best materials are often found in the most dangerous places. We also have members who focus on melee and magic to hone their skills for the protection of the guild and its members.

We have different levels of members and forming teams within the guild or out is primarily member driven based on experience desired and timezones of members or others available so that the appropriate levels are matched up. Our timezones are primarily American, but we have members from around the world, so someone is usually always on. We tend to recruit one or two new members at a time so that all can adjust to different playstyles and personalities within the guild. We have a teamspeak server, but participation is left up to the preference of the invividual members.

We are semi-roleplayers within the context included in my signature below which means we roleplay our collective belief in Jena but don't require "in character" roleplay, in or out of guild. We don't require members to participate in PvP, but our stance requires that we participate in either smacking down or being smacked down by kamisits forces (ic) when necessary.

We are Tryker based, Tryker civilization aligned and Karavan faction aligned. Neutral citizens and neutral faction alignment can join us at anytime. Neutral citizenship/Karavan-faction aligned can be members of our guild as well. Non-Tryker citizenship/non-Karavan aligned can't, plain and simple.

We don't do cold invites since we feel, as a lot of Atys guilds do, that each player needs time and research to make the most effective choice and decision about guilds as possible for enjoyable game play. Who you play with on a daily basis is just as important as how you play daily, so check all the guilds out to make sure the needs described in your post above will met to the majority of your satisification.

Wherever you two land, as there are many great guilds here (look at guild list too) to choose from, both large and small, welcome to Atys, and may your stay be as enjoyable and as long as mine has been :) .

Hail and well met :)

Welcome to the mainland...and yes it is a bit overwhelming hehe

Well Thorns of Atys is a small family guild neutral/neutral based in Fairhaven that enjoys everything about this world. We are a guild of mature players, some with families so we keep our /g chat clean. We use ventrilo. And we are all new to this world as well, as we like to take care of each other as we adventure and grow together. We have harvesters and crafters, and in the evenings and weekends we like getting together for some guild hunting.

No matter which way the wind blows, I wish you two the best and hope you find what you are looking for :)

For more info, pls contact either Nymphet, Macelaru or Shamed

*waves welcome to the two* G'day to ye =) From what I read we might be a guild for ye, but we're still quite small, and therefor there's not always someone online unfortunatly, however when we are we try to do things together, be it showing of harvesting spots, slaying of critters or doing missions to improve the guild fame, or anything :)

However I can recomend any of the other guilds as well if ye would like to see more activity in the guildchat allround *smiles*

Where ever ye end, be sure to give me a poke if ye see me around and I'm very glad to have company in what I'm doing =)

*hugs from lil me*

welcome you two to Atys :)

Cant say much most important things have been said already.
Take the time to study the avalable guilds and their missions, so you then get into one that suits you.
