Game not working

Post by coolz9 »

I just resubscribed, because I wanted to play again. So then I tried to play the game, but all i get is the window with a black screen. So I thought I should re-install the game, so I did and I still get the same thing. So then I bought a driver updater, because I thought my drivers may be outdated. So I updated all my drivers after many hours and I still get the same problem. I went to the microsoft website, to see if I needed updates, I downloaded all of the updates, but they won't install and I don't know why, and I've been through he troubleshooting. If anyone can help me I'd be greatful.

When you reinstalled did you use the latest installer? If not, I'd recommend, as a priority, downloading the latest (1.6Gb) from ryzom.com. Even before that, though, make sure that your pc is virus and malware free. Then be sure to uninstall Ryzom, delete the folder and contents and restart Windows before starting to reinstall.

After launching Ryzom client, do you get to see anything at all in the Ryzom window or is it just blank black immediately and forever?

How much RAM do you have, and what are the total capacity and free space available of your Windows drive (where your Pagefile usually lives)?

Try to get in touch with CSR team via Klients. That should be the fastest way to determine what your problem is. Or you can give us more information about your installation, like CPU, OS, Memory, Graphics Card, etc. so we can start to guess what may cause your troubles.

And welcome back.

I don't think I used the latest installer, I have the game on discs. I have many programs for anti-virus and malware, I don't think thats the problem. I do have one annoying thing called surf sidekick though, I can't get rid of, but I highly doubt its interfering with the game. I'm thinking its something graphical, because its just showing black. When I launch the game the small Ryzom logo window appears then after it loads the big ryzom window its just a black screen that says The Saga Of Ryzom at the top with the logo. I can click in the window and do stuff, but since I can't see, I don't know what I'm doing. One time I loaded the Ryzom website for password help, when I clicked around in the window. Also, I've never had this problem before.

Oops, if you had dropped a lot of flags on your old maps then Copy your Save folder somewhere safe before deleting Ryzom folder :o

(need coffee, sorry)

You're at the login page where it's waiting for your password, but I'd go no further without downloading the new installer. Installing from cd will leave you with the same amount of download in patches anyway.

I already deleted the Ryzom folder before I re-installed it thanks for the tip though. I'm downloading the installer from the link you gave me and I'm running anti spyware/virus/registry software. Yes, I remember, that its the login screen. ;)

I hope that makes a difference when it's done :)
If it gets you no further would you contemplate reinstalling Windows? Could be the simplest way to get back to the state your system was in when you played before.

I ran all my anti-virus/spyware software and the only thing I couldn't get rid of was SurfSidekick, but that only messes with your browser(I'd still like to get rid of it though, its annoying.) I tried installing the updates from microsoft again and running the game again, but it still won't work.
