monster lvl stars

i was wondering about the monster lvl gauges. on the mainland the monsters have like 1 stars, 2 stars, 3 stars, 4 stars, and 5 stars and the bosses have 2 black stars. i know all that but what does the background mean. like what order off colors do the back ground go in ?

right click on the area where the star rating and colour is displayed, then click help. Its all there. Also if you hover over it, it will tell you the level range of the creature you have in target.
