We're Movin' on Up...to the East Side!
Re: We're Movin' on Up...to the East Side!
My ping is bouncing around as well. I am noticing frequent fluctuations from 300 - 1000 now. Perhaps this is a regional thing since only certain people are getting it? I don't know...
It is good to hear that progress is being made though!!! Now lets get some useful missions and guild functions ... heh.

Woo. Nice. I was wondering why my pings averaged so much lower.cerest wrote:North American players will be pleased to know the North American server is now in North America! We are pleased to announce, at 10am GMT on Wednesday October 13th, the North American shard Windermeer was successfully migrated from the server farm in London, England to it's new home in New York, U.S.A. The transition went very smooth and with only a couple hours of additional downtime was virtually transparent to the player base. We thank you for your patience during this transfer.
Welcome to your new home Windermeer!
Nevrax is beating all of my expectations for a MMOG company so far.
Re: We're Movin' on Up...to the East Side!
Ouch ouch ouch. I just teleported to the Zorai mainland, and now I'm getting so much rubberbanding I just couldn't play (ping bouncing between 800 and 1200). Literally every three steps forward I'm warped two steps back. It took me around three minutes to get from one side of the city to the other with autorun on.
It's now every bit as bad for me as it was during peak hours prior to the server-side lag fix patch. If it helps, I'm in the Seattle area playing from dialup (I know, I know). I'm absolutely not expecting blistering performance, but I'm not even able to move forward now and I've turned all of my graphics down to the minimum settings (despite hardware that's significantly above the system requirements in most areas).
I'm honestly not sure what to do about this now. It hasn't always been this way for me. In fact, as I mentioned above, the week following the server-side lag patch I was able to play with absolutely no lag or rubberbanding of any kind even during peak hours. That ended with the version 11 patch, but was still manageable (though unpleasant) on the newbie island. On the mainland now, it's utterly unplayable.
I'm really hoping this is due to a change in the software of version 11 rather than a change in the router pathway after the move to North America. The former can be remedied, but the latter means I probably have to find another game; I'd rather not do that as I've enjoyed Ryzom very much up to this point. Either way, if the current issue I'm having is echoed by other 56k users, this might be the first MMO to erase "56k modem" from the minimum system requirements and replace it with "broadband connection." I'm sure it would make quite a few people happy, even if not me.
I am interested to know if anyone is having this rubberbanding trouble, and if so where you are playing from and whether you're broadband or dialup.
