Jeziellia's Answers: Part 1, NPCs of Silan

Post by jennaelf »

It is highly recommended that you take the time to read the Starter Guide for Ruins of Silan: http://www.ryzom.com/documentation/Manu ... _guide.pdf It is simplistic, and done in a comic style. It explains multiple interfaces, how different skills work, and many technical features that are not touched upon in this document.

Spoilers! This 'guide' will contain 'give aways' on what to expect out of certain missions, where some things come from, even making certain quests 'easier' than they may have been meant to be. If you like working it out on your own, don't read this.

Important NPCs:

We will start with Chiang (at your starting point) and go clockwise (to your right, when facing Chiang) around the camp. Please note: It is very important that you take the time to read what the NPCs say to you when assigning and receiving your missions. Not everything is put into your Missions Log, and you will miss out on important information if you do not pay attention.

Chiang the Strong: Zorai Ranger who stands on the hill where you start. He will tell you about the races and factions in your initial quest (to speak with Chiang the Strong). Once you have reached later skill levels in melee and/or magic, he will begin the Confront the Kitin missions. Chiang the Strong is also where to start when you are ready to leave Silan.

Chiang rewards you upon completion of "Confront the Kitin Threat" with the Ranger Armor. It is green and of Medium weight.

Guillan Guiter: Fyros leader, clockwise from Chiang's hill (assuming Chiang is 12), in front of the orange tents of the Fyros camp. Guillan offers the Melee Missions. This is where you receive the Apprentice(?) Shield, the Duelist Blade, and Fire & Wrath. Beside her booth is the Melee Skills Trainer.

The Melee Weapons Merchants are also here. Magic Amplifiers are sold here.

Kami Embassy: While not an NPC by itself, there is only one actual Kami in the middle of this embassy. In later levels, the Kami will offer you missions involving the Goo and the Blight that lies northwest of the encampment. Depending on your race (Zorai & Fyros), the Kami may also be your final mission destination, for your teleport to your home city.

Nomis Merclao: Zorai leader, continuing clockwise, in front of the purple tents of the Zorai, on a small rise. Nomis offers the Magician Missions. This is where you receive three different levels of Magical Amplifiers, the highest being q40 "Icy Touch". You also receive a purple Zorai Caster pants (long skirt) called the Apprentice's Gown(?).Next to Nomis is the Magician Skills Trainer.

Karavan Embassy: Also not an NPC by itself, the key entity in this camp is the Karavan Communications Officer. The Officer will offer missions involving the Goo and the Blight similar to the Kami. The Communications Officer will also offer use of the teleporter during Chiang's Kitin missions. Similarly to the Kami, dependent on your race (Matis & Tryker), the Karavan will be your final mission destination, for your teleport to your home city.

Sterga Hamla: Matis leader, in front of the yellow, fanciful tents of the Matis camp. Sterga offers the Crafting Missions. This is where you will receive "Artisans" armor pieces. It is light armor, in the style of the Matis, and green. Beside Sterga is the Crafting Skills Trainer.

The Armor Merchants are also located here; Light, Medium, & Heavy.

Milles Doine(?): Tryker leader, on a rise in front of the blue and white tents of the Tryker camp. Milles offers the Harvesting Missions. This is where you receive the "Explorer" armor pieces. It is light armor, in the style of the Trykers, and turquoise. Beside Milles is the Harvesting Skills Trainer.

The Jewelry Merchant is located just beside and behind Milles and the Trainer.

Raw Materials Merchant: Be'Tooly (?) is the Materials Merchant, located inside a brown building.

Tools Merchant: (?) is the Tools Merchant, located inside an identical brown building, beside Chiang the Strong's hill. Another identifier is its smoking chimney.

And that is the basic layout of stationary NPCs in the Ranger Encampment. There is one Ranger NPC outside of the camp, near the entrance of the Arena (open PVP area), which offers a quest in relation to fighting other Homins. I have no information on this mission.

Other Important NPCs:

Aryu Ken: Aryu Ken is an agent in the camp. He patrols between the Fyros camp and the Zorai camp.

Kami of the Lake: The Kami of the Lake is located to the southwest of the lake. On your map, it is within a cluster of trees that border the clouds that conceal the Kitin Jungle.

The Ranger NPC outside of the camp offers one mission about the Arena which is the PvP area for the island. The mission just allows you to ask and have answered a few questions about PvP (Player versus player for those who are not familiar with the acronym). It is completed after you finish your questions and does not give any experience or rewards.

Try right clicking on the link to the guide, and "Save As". It is a PDF file, so make sure, of course that you have Adobe's Reader program. Also make sure you have an updated version, that might cause you trouble.

Maybe it is interesting to know, that the Goo related missions of the Kami and Karavan Communications Officer give only positive factional fame. So you are free to do both kind of missions, and learn about how the factions deal with the Goo problems.

I completed the Kami goo missions but the Karavan Officer only offers to teleport me.

Can you only do either Kami or Karavan (as from what I can gather they are the same missions but only a different aspect)?

btw.......this is just a curiosity question.

You can do both (and its adviseable to do so). Make sure to right_click the NPC's to get the most options.

I also had a minor bug when I took the Karavan one that just kept telling me to talk to the communicaiton officer, but a relog fixed that (if you get stuck in the same loop.)

So all the missions there are, are the:

-3 goo missions for the Kami and Karavan. (done these)
-The Missions for the 4 leaders. (done these)
-The Missions for Chiang the Strong. (done these)
-And the Areana tutorial. (done this)

No other missions besides these on the island, right?
