Roleplaying...

Post by blckbird »

Hi,

I've been dabbling in Ryzom for a few days now and I'm really enjoying the ambiance and gameplay so far. I'm still trying to work out exactly what it is I want to do but gravitating towards magic.

I do enjoy roleplaying most of all but wonder if there's not much of that on the starter island as it's full of people like me trying to work out the game, nevermind roleplaying in full. Will I find a lot more roleplay on the mainland?

There are a couple roleplaying guilds. Check out the guild topic on the boards, it lists the RP stance of the guilds, as well as their race/faction.

Yes. :)

Welcome. I also recommend you join an RP guild. Here's the link to the list of guilds:

Jelathnia, Kasarinia, KianShi, Maethro, ShuaLi, and OPaxie (Arispotle)

You will find a few people who RP largely away from the Region Chat on RoS. I do at least partially RP even while in Region (before Wan left, there'd be some interesting Kami/Karavan conversations from time to time).

It's hard though, when you are answering mechanic-oriented questions and the like, of course. I had the option of NOT answering those kinds of questions, in favor of full RP and I found that didn't sit well with me. On the ML I'll be better able to do that (I don't expect so many people will be asking function questions...)

I also find that with many people, if you remain in character when face to face, they pick up and will roleplay as well. Even out in Silan! Which tickles me.

Safe journeys and good luck.

Yeah, I am also an avid roleplayer, but I too noticed that there is not a ton of that on the island. I'm looking forward to completing my time on the island in hope of finding more RP opportunities on the mainland.

If anyone is looking for an RP partner on the island, or one on the mainland, get in touch with me, we can come up with some kind of background. :)

It's kinda hard coming up with a background too without much working knowledge of the game. I've read up on the game lore and timeline but still, it's hard to fill in details. I've found this with every MMORPG I've played though so it's not exactly a Ryzom thing :)

Yeah, its hard to come up with your own timeline based on the events that have already taken place in the games set timeline, a lot of people seem to be able to, but I've never done it successfully, which is why I'm willing to try to come up with some kind of background personally for Tiksi, so people can work off of it when RPing with me. :)

Pinner, just a comment on your signature...it's a bit hard to contact you "here" as you haven't enabled private messaging. :) Click on Quick Links in the upper-right, then Edit Options, and check Enable Private Messaging.

Haha, I thought I already had done that earlier today. I've been up for way too many hours, must be losing my mind. Thanks for the heads up. ::brain falls out::

You're welcome. ^_^ *catches brain and returns it to skull cavity via ear*

By the way, Blckbird: I've been trying to add you to my friends list but so far I haven't been able to catch you online. >_< Are you in a European timezone?
