Question about player population per race

Hello everyone. I'm a Ryzom noob, formerly from several other MMOs (WoW... *shudders*) and I'm really looking forward to getting into this game, but I'm having a hard time deciding which race my first character should be. I generally tend to enjoy playing characters that are different or unique, and as a result gravitate towards the least played races/classes/etc. I had initially thought that the Zorai, looking as cool as they do, would be one of the most populated, but from browsing the forums it looks like the exact opposite is true. So, I'm at a loss. How would you rank the player population for each race, from largest to least? Barring that, could anyone at least tell me where the Fyros population stands in regards to its size? Thanks.

And thats largest (top) to smallest (bottom) btw. The zorai are just lowder on the forums so it inflates their percieved size *shrug* Personally I'm not sure whether fyros or trykers should be 2nd largest... imo its probably about equal when you look outside their own lands; inside the lakes I'm not really sure.

Hmm, there actually seems to be a rather large number of Zorai in the starter area. Oh well. I love the visual style for the race and I'm having a blast. Great game, so glad I finally checked it out.

I love the look of the Zorai as well, I am Matis because of the heritage but started way back in Beta as a Zorai.

Bear in mind that the starter island (RoS) is not going to be a true indicator of mainland population density. Also on the mainland folks are all over, not all in the same area. If you enjoy your trial and hit the mainland, do not be discouraged to see much less in the starter towns. You may have to ask questions and meet folks between their treks, but they are out there.

I chose Zorai for the same reason - uniqueness and rarity!

And I have been seeing many of them in the new area as well, but I have been reading that the mainland (as stated) cold use more Zorai-ians (or is it Zorai-ites, or Zoraians, or just Zorai :-/) and Karavan faction members too!
