Anyone else feel it ?

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

Morrowind was ... OK. My motivation in it dropped to zero once I realized that your actions have *zero* impact on the game world.

I understand the meaning of addictive, but it has only lasted till i finished the game. Ryzom is my first MMORPG( i am however an rpg veteran) and ,well, ive never experienced this feeling before. 3 days it has been since i last breathed the air of atys, and i am suffocating... its torture.
Is this normal ? are MMORPGs THAT addictive? or should i seek help from some good old single player and non rpg online therapeutic gaming?

been a while old friend.... *pats the dusty BFG*

MMORPG's can be addictive, but so can any kind of game. They are also fun and everyone longs back to whatever they enjoy doing.
The day that you get that feeling even though you're not really having fun with the game or you start giving up doing other things you usually do, so you can play the game more, you can start talking about addiction.

I've played a lot of online games. For a long time. And I beta'd this game and thought, well, it wasn't bad. And the idea was great. No orks and goblins! But just something I'd like to try to see how it played.

But the buzz you get from this game is amazing. The community is so friendly in comparison to most other MMORPGs. It's not all about leveling or making the best stuff, finding the best loot and being 1337. Fun is the order of the day and every time I play I find myself waiting to play again.

So all you people who aren't having fun, or want to play WoW or EQ2 more than this; stop complaining about it and f*&% off! Well, ok, maybe I'm not that fanatic. But just lie back and enjoy what you can at least.

Got to agree, it is very addictive and the community is great. And from reading the patch news and the future storyline it is only going to get better.

I have to agree with Glipe as well. If you dont like the game and its not for you, why are you "wasting" your time here, go and play whatever you enjoy and stop complaining and moaning here. A large part of the fun from this game is belonging to a good guild and teaming up with some friends. If you moan in the game as much as you do on the forums I am not surprised you get bored, no-one would want to team with you - it would be too depressing for them.

While NWN didnt bother me even in solo because I knew it was open to multiplayer. Playing alone is just... boring. I always tend to wonder how I'd be doing with others, just to share the experience. Playing solo is close to claustrophobia.

Can't say that. I loved Morrowind. But I have to admit that Ryzom is my first mmorpg experience. And after starting here, there was something missing when joining the Fighters Guild and the Mages Guild. There was no free chatting, no laughing and so on...
Once you start, it is kinda bad to get back to single player games, though there might be some exeptions.

Ahh, you never forget your first MMO, Pcheez! You'll have fond memories of Ryzom even when you grow bored of it and leave at some point in the future. You'll be forever trying new MMO's, just trying to get that same feeling back as you had when you first started playing Ryzom, sometimes they'll be good, sometimes they'll be poor, but they'll never capture the feeling you had for your first....

Was that MMO's? Or was that women? ;)

(And yes, I'm utterly addicted too. Never met a better community than in this game and never seen such potential. Just hope it fulfils it...)

If you enjoy the game play it if not theres always others.

When i first started playing Ryzom i only bought it as i was fed up with SWG but now that i have had a good couple of weeks playing i am having great fun. Thx to the developers the community at large and to my guild mates (hi guys).

This game wont appeal to everyone and the lack of content just now is a slight problem but hopefully over time a lot more content will come into the game to enhance the gameplay although some people cant wait that long and want to go and play EQ2 or WOW. Well Ryzom is here now the others arnt unless u have beta. So i find a number of people who say im off to play those games when there not even out to be a bit strange why not enjoy the game you have if when these games come out and u feel the same fine u can leave but to quit the game to look forward to play unreleased games which you dont know what they are like you never know they could be not what you thought they where is a bit poor i think.

As for Morrowind yes the game looked great and was different when it came out now the graphics pale compared to newer games the fogging is terrible but for a while it was an enjoyable game to play.

You all keep talking about morrowind graphics being bad. That's what annoyed me about the game so I went out and found this guy on the net who had reskinned almost all the humanoid characters. He's brilliant and the look of these new characters really made the game loads more playable for me. It's been so long since I've played it that I have no idea where the source was but what I do remember was that he was ex-industry and loved the game so much he thought that it needed it.
