i am a SWG refugee and i need some help

I searched forums and played the trial. But i still don't know how the skill system works.

I trained some (like stenght lvl 1 and 2 i think) and fought hordes of creatures. I want to be a pure fighter, preferably ranged as i like bows.

Is there a guide how i can distribute all my skill points? Is there a max of point i can point out? Is there an example on how i should make a ranged fighter so i can see what i should choose?

Many thanks. If all works out for me this weekend and i know more about the skill system, i will give up my swg account and start my journey in the worlds of Ryzom. So far i really like this game......

My recommendations would be...

Get healing magic up anyway, rezzing your teammates is important.

If you go ranged you WILL need to dig and craft as well, at the very least for ammo.

Ranged is a lot easier once you have some melee levels under your belt, maybe swap between them, 10 levels of melee, 10 levels of ranged and so on, that should also guarantee you have lots of skill points to spend.

can be a nice tool for planning which paths to take, combine this with looking at which skills/upgrades you can nearly buy using the action progression window (shift+B?),on the right of that window is a list of all upgrades at the different levels, expand and click on the branch trees to view future actions also.

The main ones you should get for melee are strength etc, increase damage, self heal hp/stam and maybee accuracy, but experiment with the others, see which ones you find useful, circular attack also good if you have enough points for when you get adds. Later on skills like invulnerability, speed up and melee protection aura can be lifesavers but not essential at the start.

Thx for the replies. I will just try to see what suits me well. I didn't know i could buy almost any skill.

Start with melee indeed and upgrade as priority:

Balance, Constitution, Metabolism and Strenght: those will increase you HP and Stamina and the regen rate: those are constitution upgrades which should always be at maxi. (in addition are Sap for Magic and Focus for Harvest).

Attack skills:
First u need Increase Damage and some credit upgrade to be able to use it.
If u have enough credit, accurate attack can be equiped with Increase dmg on same block but cost more to use.
Attack rate is for range only if I am not mistaken.

Support skills:
Taunt is must in team for melee fighter to pull mobs your lvl.
Self heal HP first and later speed and melee Aura.

I think those skills should be taken in order I listed them for more efficiency.
But if you took some before others, do not worry, as you lvl you will soon have enough points to get everything...
