help me im stuck.

Post by lordzren »

still cannot make my mind up if i hate this game or not :D

well got back into the swing of it with my new chr.

didnt go crafting because it worked out very expensive to lvl and didnt go harvesting because last time i was pulling my hair out tracking for choice mats for hours and hours to make one ql30 wep.

so i remade with 3 magic. my plan was to be a magic casting fighter.

got magic and melee to lvl 30 and was having fun. now im lvl 30 melee 32 offensive magic and 23 defensive magic.

im now completly stuck on what to do.

if i want to raise melee and magic both another 20 levels bringing them both past lvl 50 i am looking at about 20 hours game time. 40 levels , 30 mins a level if i work fast.

so i looked at what will happen at lvl 50. any quests , cool things to do ? asked around and only got silly ansers like "hunt harder things, you get better attacks "

so i choose to spend 2 hours ( only get 2 hours a day to play ) seeing if there are any fun little quests to do . missions or what ever.

all i found was tasks which were kill x of these and get x credits.

so i did some. went back expecting some kind of story update. but all i got was a empty mission window from the npc. asked about and was told i need to wait 2 hours to get more.

now i think i had the wrong idea of this game. i was expecting not to have to lvl . i love mmorpgs but hate lvling. so i normaly dont level that much. i like to spend time makeing teams and doing missions /quests . slowly lvling but its not the main focus . like the idea that there is alot of things in the game i cannot do. makes the world feel big and alive.

i rearly dont know what to do in ryzom. i dont want to sit at the pc lvling my chr all night, but the odd lvling grind is ok but mabey a few hours a week.

i was invited in a team with lvl 90 people the other night and we went hunting lvl 100+ mobs. at first it was fantastic. but after a hour the game play was just the same as killing wenee kipee in the noob lands.

im holding the cd case at the moment and there are so many cool things listedon the back. so many cool stuff said about the game on the main site but when im playing it feels kinda empty.

oh im sorry for my other posts being abit anti ryzom. just felt abit cheated when i spent my money on the game and found that what is stated may or may not be out in the next few months. not right away. and when it is out it may or may not be the same as it says.

played other mmorpgs like asherons call 1 a few years ago and hated the lvl grind.this game looks like it dosnt go down that road. but so far i cannot see anything else to do. isnt this game a mmorpg. ? massive multi-player online role play game. not just a lvl grind?

woudnt mind if the action was fast and fun but its kinda slow and hard.

sorry for going on. but please somebody give me a good solid reason to log into the game. getting bored quickly

Find a team.

Create a mission.

Do it.

In so doing, you will have fun, play with people of a like mind, and (incidently) level. Also, leveling 30 minutes per leve is a huge overestimate. It will pass much quicker.

Play because its fun. Find a way to challenge yourself and create your own game inside the framework that has been given to us thusfar.

Want to know the key to make any MMOG fun ...

Other people.

Really this is what it all comes down to in the end. After you have slain the dragon it is the people you met along that way that will keep you playing. I learned this in UO many years ago. Truth is I loved the game but I played it for the people whom I had become friends with. When they slowly started to leave one by one, I got bored quick.

What I am saying is .. go out .. find a guild that you have fun with and join up.

was in a guld of 40 people on my old chr. and with the lack of any real quests etc. all we ever did was lvl. 99% of the people who play the game are happy with lvling and damage numbers.

mabey mmorpg isnt for me then. mabey pen and pencil rpg is.

guess im looking for a deep and exciting story which im part of.
guess this game hasnt got it. (well it does but your not a acitve part of it)

should i stuck with single player games like ff8?

is there more to a mmorpg than lvl grind to fight the next hardest thing to lvl grind to fight the next hardest thing to lvl grind etc?

i am sure im missing the point. i love exploring.

but in ryzom all i could find was towns which looked just like the last , no points of intrest, nothing but some nice looking trees (which are a copy/past job all over the map)

i so want to love this game. and i did so much for the first week.

other prob is i live in england playing on the NA servers. didnt know there was a english euro one untill it was too late. now i cannot change to it and support told me to buy a new cd key at £30.

think im going to log in again tonight see if there is anything more intresting than lvling grind going on. if not im quitting . sorry to be a downer. guess its coz i only get one pc game evey 6 months then play it to death.

always get upset when i pick a bad one lol. did it with a game called "savage" last time.

anyway time for me to shut up.

p.s not a flame just asking for help on how to enjoy the game (which isnt lvling ) . i only want to lvl by doing intresting things. lvling should be a result of quests, missons etc not the result of pull a mob, kill a mob, pull a mob , kill a mob , pull a mob , kill a mob

lol please somebody shoot me. its the onlyway to shut me up

I've gotta say it's all about the group of people you associate and play with. The guild I'm with is awesome! We create our own missions and objectives within the game and have a BLAST doing it. Sometimes we level, when we're so inclined, but I've spent far more nights with them adventuring, tackling new and exciting places, and truly testing my character and my abilities as a player. From what I've been seeing changing in the world, I think that before we tire of these autonomous missions and goals this world is going to explode into a battlefield between kitin and homin. Now is the bootcamp, the training period, school if you will. We're all learning and leveling up a bit so that we will be somewhat competant when the time arises. Just like school was a bore at times, so is this. But the real stuff is coming I think and then we'll all be greatful for our time spent in school. I believe that the real stuff is coming because we've had a Matis raid, I've seen the Kitins forming up and preparing for battle, and from what I've read it's a cornerstone for this game so if they fail with their RAID engine and don't effectively pit Homin vs. Kitin then they will have, by their own definition of what they're trying to do, failed.

On a side note, I think the fast majority if not all of the current RPG's need to drop the RP part. Yes, some of us try to speak and act in character but the game dynamics are far from those of D&D and the like and I'm not sure that this type of game can really stay true to the role-playing ideals. These are all just thoughts of mine and just thoughts based on thoughts, nothing concrete or absolute at all.

I know what you mean about picking a game that doesn't fit your personal style man. I did that with Halo. I freaking HATE that game, but others love it. I hate it so much I gave it away, and I too rarely buy games. It is very wise of you to see the difference though between a bad game, and a game you just don't particularly care for. I think a lot of people like the concept of MMOG's but they're either not able to deal with the necessary pros and cons or just aren't satisfied (and that's perfectly understandable) with the current evolutionary state of the genre. For some, follow a different genre, for others, wait for this one to mature some more.

thanks very helpfull.

the part about training for whats to come... thats fine i could live with that . but its hard to find lots of online players (im in zori atm). items are hard to come buy. i dont wanna craft etc and npc sold items are very crap.

kitten raids would be cool but its not there, nothing is so far :D

and i do feel like im trapped. ok some parts of the game should be very hard to goto. but makeing it very hard for players to goto another races citys and trade/team dosnt make sense to me. mabey if the map was bigger, each race have like 50 cities, and there was so many ppl online. but its not the case.

im kinda playing "risk your life" at the moment. boring again. but at least the combat is fast. mabey i will quit and wait for dark&light to come out next year.
