Computer Restart durning Play

I scanned through the forums and did not find anything covering this problem. If I missed it then I apologize for adding clutter.

My problem:

Twice now (in the 24 hours that I have had this new game) my computer has just up and rebooted itself during play. The first time was right after I had died for the very first time and trying to figure out how to respawn. The second time was during character creation.

Any trouble shooting tips?

Sounds like video overheating to me... try lowering your settings/check you config and see if the same happens.

i`ve had similar this week, was due to not having an adequate amount of thermal grease/compound between my processor and heatsink, and my processor core temp was too high. Also check that your heaksink/video card/case fans are working.

hmm... had not thought of that. I don't know much about hardware and heating, but typically my computer beeps when it starts overheating before it restarts... at least it does during World of Warcraft. I will try what you suggest though and hopefully that will fix the problem!

maybe i will get my friend to come over and help me decide if i should install another fan...

Could also be a PSU which can't handle the load, or faulty hardware/sofware.

I am having the same problems lately.

Every once in a while (twice a day or so) my computer just restarts, and only in Dyron. I do spend lots of time there, as my packers and such are there, but in places like FH or Zorai I do fine with no problems.

I've adjusted the graphic settings to low, and still nothing. I've run multiple data checks, as well as ryzom recover.

I suspect its something to do with my video card... because for the last while (month or so, my monitor has been acting up. Weird parallel lines have been crossing my screen. ) they are not exatly line, but bars really... i suspected that my monitor was dying, but now with the sudden reboots, i wonder if its my video card dying or overheating.

How can I check to see if its overheating, and ifso, where can I get info on how to fix it? I suppose i could google it, but since its only happening with SoR, I thought i would ask here.

Sounds like vid card issues. I have also been having those. My old card was giving me "snow". Now my new one is randomly rebooting my machine... and getting the company (XFX) to admit it *might* be the card and issue me an RMA is like pulling teeth.

As for monitoring CPU temp, if it is an nVidia card, the most recent batch of drivers will do that for you.

Sandaara since its a new card, could it be that your power suply isnt producing enough power? (random guess, had a slightly similar thing a few years ago)
