dungeons and other indoor areas

Post by smidia20 »

If I was to have one complaint about The Saga OF Ryzom, it would be they aren’t any indoor areas to explore like dungeons temples or buildings . I mean does everybody live out doors? I know it’s beautiful but the elements would drive the natives to build indoor structures I presume. Can anyone share some light on this? Maybe I'm asking for too much.

I live in a tree, thanks ;)
Most tribes have nothing more then tents.

There are plenty of buildings in towns, especially the capitals, that you can enter and wander around in. Try Pyr, very interesting architecture!

You're not going to find huge "dungeons" and other giant structures in the wild though. Homins just resurfaced here in a new land after kitin decimated the old. It wouldn't make sense. This is a very primitive land.

Try some Prime Roots exploring though, that may give you the 'enclosed' adventuring you're looking for.

Kitin Hive is in the works, I believe. An underground tunnel network with bosses and such. :)

Dungeons don't really fit Ryzom, as has been mentioned, but kitin nests are another matter entirely (Depending how they're executed).

Perhaps one day, however, we can return to the ruins of the old lands and explore the old buildings and abandoned halls looking for artefacts from the height of our civilisations and fighting bandits and kitin as we go.

I see your point, but only as long as we stick to the "traditional" dungeon term (e.g. AD&D), but why limit to kitin nests only? If by dungeon we can also understand "small caves" or "natural holes in the ground" or "empty roots high enough for a group to go in" or "underground constructions and buildings" or "hobbit holes" :P giving a similar immersive, "closed-room", "no outdoors", "claustrophobic" cubicle^H^H feeling, these "dungeons" can perfectly fit in, and would provide more richness.

We could go further, as old Karavan constructions, tribes that camped in a natural "cave_like" . Note that we alrady have a few... Prime roots, Kitin Nests as desertstock, caves within Prime roots as near sap gleaners, jugukoo, etc. hives, varinx haunt, etc. also note that side-discussions as instancing and phat loot are (orthogonal^H^H^H^xx#!#/ dmn Cry and Xera :P ) unrelated

I would not state that "dungeons" don't fit into Ryzom, we just need a broader meaning :) but I would say that these "dungeons" are not as of today ubiquitous and, imho, there could be more of them -- but they have not been implemented or enabled (yet) -- in the same line as there could be more races, more lands, more xxxx

for xera and Cry :P Orthogonal: adj. [from mathematics] Mutually independent; well
separated; sometimes, irrelevant to. Used in a generalization of
its mathematical meaning (...). Also used in comments on human
discourse: "This may be orthogonal to the discussion, but...."

orthogonal : -

"Relating to or composed of right angles.
Mathematics.
Of or relating to a matrix whose transpose equals its inverse.
Of or relating to a linear transformation that preserves the length of vectors. "

For those that cant be bothered to go look it up..

Cor Ani!! I'm usually the one pulled up on the wacky words.. that one was a corker!! :D

EDIT : i think you meant ubiquitous not obiquitous - being sort of similar to omnipresent.. :P
