Maihem was a TKM on Corbantis server, until the NEG. I've been looking for a place to call home since November and I think I have found it here.
I was big on PvP there, however since I escaped from SWG i have been getting my PvP fix in EVE...full loot and stiff death penalties oh my...
But this new home seems very relaxing, not a PvP game but a place to kick back and socialize. And that is also something I miss from SWG. So SoR will be my RnR centre. And I look forward to crafting and hunting and exploring my way across this new world.

Re: SWG Refugees
In way I'm a SWG refugee as well, though I bailed prior to launch of the space add which I was in the beta test on, due to how SOE ignored our input and made alterations that were ludicrous I blasted them and deleted it off my computer.
Played Eve Online as well (two accounts) but became disillusioned that unless your happy to PK (PvP to me is consentual) Eve was more players in big ships going around blasting everything smaller and weaker than themselves. I admit not all the community played that way but its the few rotten gamers who spoil it for everyone, anyway I am definately not into PvP, as being killed is never a pleasant experience so I cant see the point inflicting such onto another player who like me is only out to have some fun. But in Eve to succeed to your best potential requires trips into low security areas where the PK'r will be waiting and the stress such a trip caused made it definately no longer fun to play.
AO came and went, biggest let down is they actually class Neutral as a faction and both the players in the Omi and Clan factions can attack you but you cant attack back until after they hit you. To me defeats the point of being neutral. Though you can survive as long as you stay in 75% gas and up and still have a lot of fun it definately was more enjoyable than Eve (though I was sad to leave Eve).
So came upon Ryzom while looking for free trials to check out at mmorpg and after having to do a complete download twice was glad the game loaded so quickly with only one patch (AO took like 4 hours of patching to catch up on). First thing that impressed me was the bells and whistles, the dust trail as you run, the fact you cant run through things like you can in AO in fact if you wheel the camera in towards your character you get to go through your own head (very disconcerting). Next was you dont need to have a degree to work out all those nano's and implants not to mention how to spend your skill points. But the biggest thing that impressed me was when I read that the carnivores AI actually has them go off hunting. First MMO I ever seen such a thing, gone are the "I can move up to this point and draw of the left one without triggering the rest" cause half the time there roaming around and died more than once when a gingo appeared from behind and took a bite out of my butt.
Mind you I would love to find out how I can get to run faster, its annoying that were the slowest moving things (apart from slaveni's) on the planet.
On another note I think they could improve the help system, frankly it is the worse part of the game for a new player and the worst such I have encountered, It actually almost had me giving up on the game but came back the next day, started a new character and been having a hoot ever since. Up side is that it doesnt take long to figure out even if you ignore the help system but for some gamers it could put them off especially if theres not that many around willing to take time to chat. Which brings me to another aspect, the game support staff are very helpful to the point I had a guide asking if I wanted help even though I never petitioned one, then couldnt get rid of her once I asked the question (was a bonus good thing as far as Im concerned) as she was constantly checking to make sure I was ok and if I had any other questions. That and the player support which I noticed was amazing makes the issue of the help action appear to be a minor one, but I have played many mmo's where there was no guide or GM to answer my question and players didint want anything to do with noob's so I tend to solo most of the time and being in a team had always been "do the fighting / healing and watch the guy hiding at the back rush in and take all the loot" and when you ask if there was something you could use they conveniently logged. I have not found this here yet though I only really grouped once so far in 23 levels (over the 4 skills) but found this not the case, I mean how can I maintain an untrusting of grouping here when a player not grouped with spends 5 minutes trying to rez me after a looter train rolled past me and killed me. Hehe no matter where you go players with mobs after them seem to have a genetic feature that makes them rush towards other players.
I apologise for the length of this but felt my positive feeling about the game would be better understood knowing the background of past experiences.
God this is long...
Better submit it before it gets longer........

And compare to AO (which was lag nightmare) SoR has no lag at all and everything about the game in graphics and AI makes AO (and a lot of other mmo) look like a model T ford in comparison.
