I think they try to change things up... budget probably decides how far/often they go about. I am not sure if this is a factor in less stops here in the states, but I swear there is a picture of a guy on the post office wall looking ALOT like Soulsnatcher

with US meets we also have an issue of size. The US is much larger than England, so getting everyone to one spot tends to be an issue. Splitting it into west coast/east coast still leaves the center with having to move and also splits the people into two smaller groups making it twice as expensive.
