Is magic only viable?

Post by cogent »

I'm thinking of starting a Zorai after watching the official Zorai movie. I wanted to just work on the magic aspects more so than the melee.

Am I gimping myself by doing that? Should all characters have melee skills also?

As always, thanks for your opinions!

It's doable, but melee helps. You're best off getting your HP etc from another skill tree.

The only real need for melee (or ranged) is for the extra HP you get.

so yea, basicly if you master all trees of magic, you really dont need melee since youll own em in other ways, if your planning on going for only 1 or 2 then id say you should also do melee for the HP bonus.
When i was a young homin i also only wanted to do magic, but as you grow in the game youll notice that you will get in to melee either way :) its just the game that makes you do it for fun :D

At level 125 ish in melee, you will have the same HP's as a level 250 in any magic branch. That is if you max your HP's in both branches. By 250 in magic (more than one branch) you easily have many surplus skill points with which to buy your HP's (in fact I mainly used excess magic Sp's to buy them), you just won't be able to buy that many.

My suggestion is to get melee to at least that level at first, just to survive, but any serious mage has 200+ in at least one melee branch (most 250).

Even if you never ever melee in 'battle', you'll be better able to cast your spells and survive.
