Thanks Nevrax for the Unlimited Trial!
Thanks Nevrax for the Unlimited Trial!
I've been very busy over the last month and have only played once a week or every 2 weeks for a couple of hours each time. The SoR trial structure is so perfect because it's giving me the time to see if SoR is the MMO for me. The 10 day trial would not have worked. I hope this ultimately works, pulling in more subscribers for you.

Ditto! I think this is probably one of the best ideas I have ever seen in such a game. I know that if I had only been given a week, I wouldn't have been able to decide, with my hectic schedule and being a lone player.
I'm just about ready to take that next step (closing out a UO account), and it has EVERYTHING to do with the ability to explore and learn about SoR in a timeline better suited to my lifestyle.
RoS offers a large area, and the missions have taught me a LOT about how the game system works (though not everything by far, I know!) and has given me a leg up on the "steep learning curve".
So, yes. Let me echo the appreciation with huntn.

Re: Thanks Nevrax for the Unlimited Trial!
I too would like to echo the thanks for the unlimited trial period. I've already dropped my subscription to WoW and am now almost ready to take the plunge into this new world. Without the unlimited trial period I probably wouldn't have become attached to this game. Thanks!
Re: Thanks Nevrax for the Unlimited Trial!
Agreed. The unlimited trial allows one to experiment with playing styles until you find the mix of skills and character race that you like, and when you feel ready you can then take the plunge and only then start paying the subscription price.

I have gotten the impression - between older players in Regional and a few converstaions in Universal spawned by questions - that the Mainland is so much more vast than the island (does it HAVE a name or should we just call it Silan hehe).
It's like being in elementary school and hearing about high school. SCARY!
RoS seems to be a GREAT gateway to the rest of Atys though. I know I'm looking forward to the day when I'm ready to step out of the nest, as it were.

It has a name - The Ruins of Silan, RoS for short.
Samar d'Naz - Homin, pure and simple.

Yes, yes, thanks for the trial!!!
I'm a frequent visitor to mmorpg.com, keeping an eye on the charts. Not because I'm always looking for the next best thing, but because I like to. I've passed on Ryzom several times, mostly because it's been, sad to say, a ways down on the charts. I damn myself for not checking up on it earlier. The trial boosted it's ratings to third place, so I decided to take a look, a decision I've yet to regret.
Here's to Nevrax, for this fine decision *skôl*
And once again, thank you so very much

Just want to drop a line telling you how much I like this thread
Re: Thanks Nevrax for the Unlimited Trial!
I was trying to mention this to some people I teamed with today, as most of them had /no idea/ this was the case. They all seemed more like WoW/EQ style players, used to quests for XP/loot, and killing mobs for loot instead of crafting materials. Some of them seemed quite surprised at this, while others didn't seem phased at all.sx4rlet wrote:... I hope you heared the Ruins of Silan isnt the same as the mainland? Hardly any quests etc...
I am enjoying the unlimited trial as well, and especially the friendly. mature community. Almost everyone is helpful and willing to give tips/advice.
But I am somewhat worried about heading to the mainland. I've read it's not nearly as populated/busy as the Newbie area, and my bizzare playtimes coupled with my usual tendency to solo might not really fit with SoR's intended style of play. I will have to see how I feel after I have finished all I can in the Ruins of Silan.
Perhaps I am just one of those people still "looking for my next MMO", and jumping from one to the next. Though if that's the case, I'm in trouble, as I've played/tried almost every MMO out there (minus most of the Asian ones).
