Need more information, please

Post by cryshal »

I'm level 28 in melee/fight, and I've been mostly grinding because I can't figure out most of the Fed-X quests, i.e. take a message to someone in a timed quest, and I have no idea where to look.

I'm on the mainland in Zora. When I go to the outposts, I can't find a way to get to the named NPC on the hill. Also, how do you teleport? When it comes to humanoid npc's around Cities of Intuition, no one attacks me, but in Zora, the NPC's want to give me quests to kill them. There is so much I don't understand.

Hello Cryshal

I hope I can answer some of your questions.
cryshal wrote:Also, how do you teleport?
To teleport you have to do a teleport pact at a Kami or Karavan altar. This teleporter pact allows you to return to that specific altar one time. After you used the pact, it is gone, and you have to make a new one. So to teleport you first have to walk to an altar, to be able to return to it in the future.

There are different kinds of NPC's living in Cities of Intuition. Some are friendly tribes like the Icon Worshippers, some are wandering NPC's that will give out missions, and the third type are bandits like the Birds of Omen or Eyes of Intuition. The later ones are these where you get 'kill' missions for.

I hope someone else can answer your other questions.

Cheers

Thank you. There must be more info I can get about the quests? Does anyone bother with them? Plus a way to get to the NPC's on the hills, to give them the messages.

As Trini said, you have to buy the teleport tickets from an altar. There's one in each city and others dotted around. You can only teleport to these altars once you have walked there and bought a ticket. They cost dapper (money) to buy. To get one you simply click on the big spinning symbol near the kami spawn point. You should get a message saying something like "Make a Pact" (you can also right click the symbol and celect this option). When you click you get a window that allows you to select and buy the teleport pact.

When you wish to teleport back to this point, you right click on the ticket in your inventory and select "use". Stand still for 15 seconds and you then teleport to the altar the ticket was bought at. Don't forget to buy a new ticket on arrival because it is destroyed when you use it.

As for finding NPCs, you either have to wander around to find them and make note of their location. Alternatively you can use the knowledge of those that came before and visit these websites:
http://ryzom.raum.com/?t=itemdb&s=npcs&menu=
http://ballisticmystix.com/map.jsp?l=y& ... =y&b=y&s=y

(second one may be down - they have been having problems of late)

One tip with NPCs is that the people yopu are looking for are not just the random ones. They have a title as well as a name, e.g. scout, patroller, prospector, hunter, local messenger etc.

Yeah I do missions quite often. They are mainly useful for raising your fame, which you need to do if you want to join a faction.

What I have done is found a few missions that give good fame and are easy to complete. If the mission text says something about "truly grateful" it gives good fame. Kill X bandits missions are also good for fame. If the mission is too much hassle to finish, don't bother with it. Just experiment a bit.

You may look at the following sites http://www.ballisticmystix.com/
http://ryzom.raum.com/

And I don't know which NPC's you talk about. I can't remember any NPC that I couldn't reach. Maybe you want to ask in region, if there is someone around that can help you.

I did click on one of those symbols and saw what it said but no offer to let me buy a teleport pact. I will check that out again.

The NPCs I tried to reach for quests, were on hills in the outposts, but I couldn't find a way up there. I will try those sites you listed.

I see that you joined the game in 2004. Do you play one of your 'old' characters?

This requires a difficult answer. Some friends started playing Ryzom then, so I bought the game. I couldn't establish an account with my credit card. My friends are no longer playing, but I thought recently that I would try the trial, and ended up wanting to try the full game. However, I still can't establish an account. Because of endless emails and efforts, I was given 45 free days. I have no idea where I will go from here, game or account wise.

I hope the account get sorted out for you.

I can't say that I do this, but you can always do some resarch before you take fedex jobs, make map pins where every NPC with a title is located before you take deliveries to them. I remember when I came to Yrkanis at level 10 I couldn't for my life get to the next town without something killing me on the way, and much less finding the NPC on time. I ended up taking kill quests instead.
