I came back, I tried, I saw and I cancelled

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

Actually, I think PvP has spoiled what Ryzom was, a massive amount. It has done damage, no doubt. That it's still the best game around for my purposes just, to me, shows the state of the other games around.

The fact is, Ryzom changes but Atys also changes. It is not meant to be static and you of all people should understand that. I accept the entrance of PvP conflict in its various forms as merely part of the evolution of the story.

Yes, but when I look at the cost/benefit analysis I don't see the gain as being worth the cost. YMMV.

Why do some ppl who see posts that fit in with their point of view just say they are whines.

Yes I can still go everywhere if I am prepared to walk and when I spent weeks/months reaching TPs all over the world and getting tickets for them do I want to do all that walking again ?

For example, digging last night in Fleeting Garden I got jumped by 2 gingos, the nearest res point is Davae as I can no longer TP down. Running all the way down again took ages, getting attacked by every baying and scary gingo on the way.
Not my idea of fun knowing that everytime I die Ive got to run down through mobs that will attack you no matter what lvl you are.
I couldnt even ask for a res as I didnt see 1 person all weekend in the southern areas.

They should make the 250 areas PvP zones and restrict the TPs to those if they wanted to implement world PvP, not take away game content from customers that they previously had.

As Blizz found out if World PvP interferes with general gameplay then alot of angry ppl come onto the forums.

Fleeting Garden Kami.

Yes, just a fix to one example. But my point is, there's a usable TP near enough to just about everywhere. You don't have to do "all that walking again" - just a little.

Oh and make sure to hit CTRL+F and click "Become neutral" under faction, else you'll be Undetermined and unable to buy any TPs.

I would disagree;

How many times have you spent 30 minutes + sneaking through PR to a boss, only to find out that someone has simply teleported in and killed it during that time?

How many times have you had to spend 10+ minutes running back to an OP battle after every wipe, taking so long your flag drops on the way, and having to risk DP with the aggro just to join in?

How many times have you run back and forth through PR with a pick in your hand, to find the mats are gone this season and your 30+ minute journey is wasted?

Neutral TPs are a major problem, denying us access to content simply by being too slow to get there in time.

Ahem, well I wont point at at the list of friends who left as PvP only content frustrated them, the attitudes it encouraged upset them etc. Lets just say that starting mid-way throughing EP 2, thinking "great, live event!" I went digging in the Old Lands. And yeah, I got repeatedly nuked for 2960 damage with my measly 300hp. And yeah, when I asked the GMs if there was any non-PvP events going on, all they could do was shrug and say they were sorry there was nothing they could do.

This is not a "whine", just trying to point out the real problems with recent "FvF" content. I feel there are problems both with Neutral TP balancing _and_ the amount of "PvP Only" stuff.

But I love Ryzom and so I put up with the problems for the other things here. My friends, the beautiful world, all the good content that isnt tied into those issues.

EDIT: Deleted...mostly.

Meh, why am I posting this, or anything else on the subject? Just as some people will "gank" as long as there is an ability to PvP, some people will whine as long as there is a forum. ;) I lump both types into the same mental pile.

That argument is kind of self defeating because the people you are claiming are whiners are those against the gankers.

Bottom line here people is this is a forum. People have a RIGHT to express their opinion without being flamed and being called whiners. You don't like their opinion you have 3 choices:

a) don't read it.
b) express a reasoned counter argument.
c) get back in game/get back to work and don't let it bother you. ;)
