Equipment Decay

Post by rushin »

Just curious how people feel about current rates of decay. I'd like to see equipment lose hp a lot faster. case in point, my last set of medium armor lasted 13 months, my heavy is still going after a year and i change la purely for looks but have never worn a peice out.

There could be a much bigger, better market if things wore out more quickly :)

i must admit i spend most of my time dodging Raj and not fighting so maybe the combat junkies see it a different way :p

I didn't tick a box, but I think a _slight_ increase in wear rate might be a good idea.

Something to encourage people to sell via shops and not use them for storage would be good too.

I have worn out many sets of gear... armour, weapons, especially jewels :p
while I dont like to see my trusty gear break, I realise why it is that way, and have adapted my actions to deal with it (different gear for different tasks, to spread the wear, etc )
so I guess im voting for status quo
:D

/edit but to improve the markets.. ALLOW NEUTRALS TO BUY SECONDARY TOWN TP's !!

Depends on the item and use....

Wear only seems related to the amount of actions done whilst the item is equipped , Focus Jewels and Armour last for ages (unless you grind Craft in them) , High Damage Combat (low amount of actions) lasts a reasonable amount of time , Low Damage Combat (High amount of actions) wears too fast -especialy Range (Pistol) or Daggers

I think wear needs to have another factor added in to even up the rates

Didnt vote needed an "Other" option :p

what about adding a "natural" rate of decay on top of the decay caused by normal usage?

that would have the added advantage to slowly reduce the number of aen armors - as is now, there are far too many, it almost looks like an uniform

I have worn jewels and LA out in under a week before o.O multiple times... So I say same... Because grinders will ruin them quick... If they wore faster I would have to go naked alot o.O I even wore a set of MA out about half way in a week not to long ago and I don't grind like I used to(well esp now lol).

I selected "As it is now" mainly because of the way that good mats spawn. The randomness is gone and you HAVE to time the best mats and thats schedule based. If I spend hours in the same area, should be an occasional Ex-Sup mats spawn. The old days were better for that and without one fix, the other would only be a nerf of sorts. XX Sup/Ex mats only popping at season change is silly...

I agree. If there is a change in decay there should be a change in availibility of mats.

I didn't checked this during the last 3-4 months, but I still think this isn't really true. You can observe the following behavior of raw mat popping, if you check after a server boot, near the end of a season. If you empty a source during that time, it will not pop immediatly during a season change, but at some other time during the following season. Similar happens, if you don't completely empty a source, but leave some mats in it. In my opinion the respawn rate of supreme/excellent mats is somewhere around four days, and the harvesters behaviour makes it seem, that it only pops at season change.

Anyone who has pushed hard to grab a few Ranged lvls will tell you you can break stuff PDQ (must relate to number of offensive actions, amongst other things) but in general wear rate seems about right and acceptable to me.

Maybe relate what you can equip more specifically to skill lvl in rather than a particular stat? ie at 250 rifle I can get and swing a 250 sword even though I would probably cut my foot off with it.

Making it item/skill lvl based would support more crafters across the board?. I make an older player starting Ranged a 250 rifle but what about all the Rangecrafters at say 50>200 skill who could make a Perfectly acceptable Lvling weapon sorta cuts them out of the loop.
