Time to look at ranged finally?

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

Should ranged get some TLC yet?

Yes, time to look at ranged.

Time to look at ranged finally?

Post by grimjim »

A lot of the new refugees (especially the SWG ones) are particularly interested in ranged weapons and get disappointed when the problems with them are brought up.

Isn't it time it got a bit of attention?

I would rather see some interesting stats on one-handed weapons first.

I think there may be other priorities imho, although I'm not the one to define them. It depends the effect and extent of the changes. If they are incremental and without detriment of other features, why not. If they are supposed to be the sole main focus for the devs for a spawn of 6 months, uhm. That said, on the pipe we have: ring, kitin lair, spires, titles, ...

w.r.t. New refugees, well, I think they have way more things to do and discover.

Disclaimer: I am not a ranged fighter.

Hehe you had to ask J, but yes very often universe chat from the island is ranged related and it also seems alot of older Homins are dipping thier toes in.

Cmon giv us a Dev ;) , just a little one, even just for abit, even abit of a dev for abit, maybe abit of a Dev for abit when no-one else is looking or at lunch :)

Range is probably the last true skill tree that people take interest in. Mostly because of the amount of effort it requires to level. Having leveled all the 2h trees to a point, I don't think they are imbalanced with other skills.

Range is just a skill that requires skill to level, if you know what I mean? ..and it takes time!
Launcher and Rifle especially are bang on to me. If you know how to use them properly when lvling, you can make the most of the bullets.

Here is a ranged site. There will soon. be leveling guides for each of the 2handed weapons soon. Time permiting.

Range is probably the most fun skill I have experienced, because it is challenging. I'm sure launcher will be the next nuke :)

I just wanted to add.
If anyone would like to contribute to the range site at all. If you have pictures, recipes, maybe guides for new players, guides to the crafting aspect , anything you think would be usual, send me a tell and ill give you my email address :)

That is one excellent site Final! Wow!

And yes yes yes, I want to bring an autolauncher to the next kitin invasion. That's what it was designed for!

Voted in favor of ranged getting some TLC. However, that is contingent on the Devs having the time available to look at it. With all the other irons they have in the fire now, ranged does need to be a lower priority than some (e.g. R2). I just don't like the idea of it slipping off their radar and getting permanently ignored.

Thanks Ulani. I really like ranged, I find it has so much more depth and envolves so many different things to be successful with. Unlike any other skill I have leveled. This one is challenging.

A quick note on th balancing again. I have beaten nukers in a duel with my rifle before. It hits so fquickly and hardly lets a nuker cast. Very well balanced in my eyes. Atleast the combat aspect.

for rifle and particularly pistol, credit use is an issue.

for the 2 launchers, ammo bulk is the issue really.
