Every moment spent digging materials for these kidnappers, or running around chasing some of the great beasts in Verdant Heights is time wasted in finding the culprits. I am admittedly a hawk, but the doves will have us on the leash of these dogs chasing our tails.

It's apparent what the doves are doing to coddle the kidnappers, what is being done to identify their camp and rescue our Prince ?

Anyone else think these demands are really wierd? Kidnap the Matis prince, and demand craft mats and the death of Gibbakin? Wha?

They gonna give us a package to deliver to the next town over, next? :p

To our dear loyal Matis!

Due to your great effort we were able to save both the Prince and our people. My son is back in the palace and is as healthy as ever - our doctors confirm that the kidnappers refrained from using the disease on him.

You achieved all that the kidnappers asked for and met all their demands to effect the release of the Prince, and words cannot express my gratitude.

Now it will be the duty of our military to find the kidnappers. We will make any effort to find them and neutralize the disease they are threatening us with, since we will never know when they might try to extort us again.

Our special thanks also go to the Sisters of Jena who helped us to recover the “Goo Crystal”. Even though our knowledge of the Sisters is limited, we appreciate that they helped us during these dark hours, and I will pay my promised debt to them when the time comes.

May our future be bright from this day forth …

Signed,

Lea, Queen of the Matis.
Heed my words!

I am so relieved that the Royal Heir is safe and well :) I feel such a fool to have doubted the strength of feeling in the silent majority, and abroad.

As it was, I am sure the opportunist kidnappers will now be very easy to track down - such greedy people will not be capable of leaving a single portion of their ill-gotten gains behind, which surely must have been far more than they anticipated. Carrying that weighty ransom is bound to leave an obvious trail in summers soft soil. We should keep our eyes open too for lame, or even dead, mektoub packers. Ask the traders' associations to keep a record of anyone with an astonishing quantity of stock for sale. I want to know who is in charge of the investigation, what leads they have already, and who to give any pertinent information to. Do we have any names to go on apart from the Negotiator?

(Thank you Sxar :o )

Zyrie sat in the warm summer sun and mused about the one fact that no one seemed to care about, that now the Queen ( and the heir) is indebted to an obscure cult... and that the bandits required the one item that this cult could provide..... She shook her head over the entanglements off state politics, picked herself of the ground and wandered of into the forest, maybe the amber spot she discovered yesterday whas back...

This took some searching but is perhaps relevant to the obscure cult:

The Sister said they're above the usual Karavan, inquisitors was mentioned (i should used chatLog for the text sometimes). However can't say i'm terribly pleased with the entire situation. The preciseness of the demands suggest materials and componants for a far more dire project, despite his name the queen did not seem to negotiate with the guy, merely agreed to all demands, which we the subjects bore the burden.

The swiftness of both the arrival of the Sister and the handover of the goo crystal for a 'favour' demanded in the future, as well as the prompt return of the prince has me asking more questions.

I have a fear that the items the matis provided will serve a plot far deadlier than a kidnapping. The terrorists (i believe is an apt term) threatened with disease, demanded particular items, perhap most dangerous of these being the crystal. They are not mere bandits, any nation threatened subsequently can rightfully blame the matis kingdom for complying with terrorists with no resistance, and not having sufficient backbone to deny these enemies the means to threaten many more Homins.

It makes me ashamed to be blunt.

I agree that the Sisters' involvement sounds like cause for concern. I'm sure the kidnappers were just thugs, though - they weren't particular in the slightest about their initial demand. The Goo Crystal, however, suggests to me that they were serving someone else in this respect, some evil intelligence who might have given the means to threaten us with disease. Mats of all denominations and any variety for the thugs, more difficult to trace, and the special item for the mastermind.

And Aajolea, it's foolish to be ashamed for something over which you have no responsibility or power.

(I was only there for the initial ransom meeting with Negotiator, does anyone have chatlogs or similar of the subsequent events?)
