Does your guild plan trips, or just make a run for it on occasion?

We tend to just make a run for it from time to time. Normally only one or two people at a time. When dodging aggro you are often best to be alone while doing it. The more people you have the more likely it is that someone will wander a few meters too far to the left or right and pull aggro taking out the entire group

CP has been doing the "massive group attempting to fight its way past everything". From what I hear they have not been having much luck with it, but that could be wrong.

CP can walk through the prime roots with one full group rather easily, killing everything except the kitin patrols.

We've tried organizing a few times, but most of the time it is just a random thing with who is on.

Amusingly enough planning usually draws 2-3 people for a run to somewhere deadly. Where as just casually asking people to draw up some death penalty will get a lot more.

I don't think any Zorai has had any success outside of Umbra since the last crazy patch. The mobs there are lower level, and the guards and patrols less dense.
