The enemy would then no know which to show up at to defend as they do not know which one I intend to make my primary target. it also provides a different target for when an attack is not going favorably. To be sure someone will be at each of the OPs making sure no one shows and that they'll not be pleased about having to watch an empty OP, but thats means that those people won't be at the OP I attack and thus make the defending force a bit lighter.
Remind me again my friend when this tactic ever worked ? Now we have spent millions of daps by now chasing folks around Atys during these times but it never worked as a diversion. If the attacking force was not prepared or able to win one battle, never has an OP been won by the sideshow.

Instead of standing around for 2 hours, we teleported around following the skirmishes.

The tactic has worked against Kami faction players actually. It is one reason that they kept losing ground and have a hard time gathering enough people for a real attack. I hope that it will be stopped on both sides, and that we'll see more support on both sides for all future outpost battles.

However, there's probably no way to stop the occasional one person guild from attacking without sufficient support to make a battle worthwhile for anyone. Those should be rare events, not common practice in my opinion.

Its worked to varying degrees at a couple different OP battles, the most memorable being the Samsara FF battle (not the samsara battle itself, but the time period in which that large battle took place). Three OP battles raged, 2 declared by kara, 1 by kami. The samsara and CoM OPs were stalemated, but while the fighting was going on at those two, a Kara force was able to begin winning rounds at the GoU OP owned by TW. We were barely able to get forces there in time to beat back the kara and defend the OP.
Granted it did not "work" as in it resulted in a victory, but it certainly showed the possibilites of the tactic and how effective it can be. Had we arrived at GoU 5 mins later (say continued to stand at Samsaras OP or attacking CoMs) we would have lost GoU.

While you both are correct, that was your best case example and as stated were all true battles. We were mostly on the topic of lesser forces using this to "sneak" an OP. We will never again match those times, less politics and more substance... When someone declared on you, more than 4 soldiers arrived...

I was, am and always will be Brandon...

Hiya peeps, I don't know what the big deal is other than the fact that we are having a blast and YES sometimes we get a little SERIOUS. For a lot of us it is a good part of our LIFE!

Personally I think Dman (yes, I'm the Dad) did a great job, he may be small but he pack a big punch. He does mean well and hoped that his announcement would have brought more peeps. Yeah it is unfortunate that there are some time issues but I think they exist in real wars too :)

I know that he plays on game more than most and he is there when anyone asks him to be, I would back him up even if he wasn't my child as I have done for many others and as I have taught him to do.

Keep a good lookout, I don't think he is done yet and at last I think his Guild is growing...

On the flip side, none of this should be that big of a deal, because a lot of my good friends are from Europe and are Kamist's and the fact that I am Karavan makes no difference to them. When on the battle-field we laugh as we kill each other and have a great time, as I hope we continue to do in the future.

Keep it real and keep it fun!

They already increased the cost of declaring once. Its now no longer a silly small ammount (even if it is still well within the reach of any larger guild to declare regularly on even the largest OP).

Personally I am ambivalent on false declarations. I can see reasons for and against, and I have been at stupid time declarations where no one showed.

One possible solution would be to have "time zones" for different OPs. So there would OPs that could only have fights during Euro peak hours, and other OPs only during US or whatever. Free for all at weekends ;) but it could be hard for a UK based guild to hold a US timezone OP.

*shrugs* frankly the whole OP battle timing system is a problem, so I think the devs should be looking at it _very_ seriously for this server, due to the timezone issues with the player base.

I agree that would be a better situation which would reduce animosity. Hopefully, it would still allow for fun and more friendly battles without putting many people in the difficult position of having to take off work (if possible) or stay up most of the night to defend their outposts.

Thanks :) I sometimes wonder how much of the bad feelings/harsh words in OP battles is a result of people getting cranky from late nights/early mornings.

I have added this suggestion to my most recent post in the "what bugs you the most?" feedback thread... so hopefully...
