You seem to be interested in certain things that, to my knowledge, are not currently implemented in the game and (again, to my knowledge) are not currently on the devs' drawing board. You have to decide whether those things that you want -- things not currently implemented or in development -- matter enough to affect whether you subscribe, or not. It seemed to me like they mattered a lot to you, so I simply said maybe Ryzom is not the game for you... much in the same way, if someone said they wanted ship-to-ship space combat -- which is also not currently in the game, nor in development -- as a part of his MMO experience, I might say "maybe Ryzom is not the game for you."

That's not the same thing as saying "leave" and I never meant it to read like that. I'm sorry if it did. I meant it in the context of what features are, and aren't, in the game currently.

Outpost politics and conflict exists and, IMO, fulfills what you are looking for in that particular quote.

Examples:
The Trykers pushed Matis guilds out of the lakelands.
Some outpost owners are known to share their outpost's produce.
Several outposts in the desert and jungle ("Kamist territory") are owned by Karavaneer guilds, and some Kamists see this as symptomatic of their lesser numbers and want to excise the Karavaneers.

Anyway, in response to the thread title...it's the Saga of Ryzom. The entire point, for me at least, is participating in the ongoing story.

Not quite what i meant by outpost. lol, sorry. I know there are outposts in this game by name, but i think the only function they serve is teleporters and land marks of some kind, and right markers for harvesting.

I was referring to outposts as more of a deadwood thing.

Outposts are taken via mass, organized PvP between the attacking and defending guilds and their allies. The guild that owns an outpost can set up a drill which digs up resources, including flowers that give a temporary (60 minutes) stat boost, crystals that double experience gain, and special materials used in crafting "uber" items. And, as I already said, the politics and conflicts surrounding outposts can be significant. Who owns what where affects relations between factions and races. What people do with their outposts' resources affects the economy and how others view them. Only a limited number of outposts are currently active though, so those you see as mere "markers for harvesting" are just yet-inactive.

I, for one, am glad that there's no player housing in this game.

I did that in SWG way back when and having a house, a "shop" or harvesters set up was a total PITA. You HAD to log in regularly and pay for or manage or check up on the damn things. Hated the concept.

Last thing I want from my leisure time activity is to have to worry about whether or not the rent is paid up on an imaginary house.

One thing that often gets me in a mmo and I see it tend to get others is the whole "end game" thing.
End games belong to stand alone rpg/rts/tbs/adventure whatever's. MMOs should be about time spent in perpetuity. The "end game" thing implies that there's an end to the game and those just dont belong in mmorpgs. The whole point of this game format is to be endless, supposedly lol.

How often do thies things happen?

I have tried to start a history of Atys in the forums to give the older players an opportunity to tell what have happened. And for the younger to learn from.
