How big are the worlds?

Post by jollyemu »

I'm tired of previous mmorpgs like WoW or EQ2 that trap you in these little zones (IE shoebox sized areas) I prefure the enviorments of SWG or AC1, the randomized terrain, makes it feel more open and more like a real world.

Depends on the team you are travelling with really.

But don't forget there are 4 capitals and then there is also PR and Nexus and Old Lands and Silan and the Promised kitin lair ;)

You are asking a hard question, A trek to every area and city is known as a day trek (it's mostly known as a world trek but I'm talking time wise) or in other words it takes a few hours this is also encludes breaks, agrro, etc. A trek to Yrk from Pyr for exmaple is oh about an hour with a good team. Now FairHaven to Zorai is another story that is about 2 hours I think since you must go through BB (Beach of Bounty) and Prime Root.

Really everything depends on the factors of Atys and RL, so it's pretty hard to say jsut how long. Please note that these are from my experinces and I'm doing the math in my head. I hope this helps you and I'm sure someone can give you a persise timing.

Welcome to Atys, jollyemu :)

Oh I am sure you will feel that Atys is like an open and real world. Sometimes too open as you struggle to find somewhere to hide :D But "randomized terrain"? What a strange concept! Atys is a dynamic and vibrant world that shifts and changes slightly with the weather and the seasons, but I would never say that the cycles of nature are "random".

And don't let anyone rush you so rapidly from place to place as suggested above - take your time and enjoy the scenery, ride a mektoub for an even better view, and walk.

Big enough to have loads of Fun. And if you don´t rush it, there´s always something new to find and to explore. :)
And with R² there will come even more new areas :D
So, welcome aboard, fasten your seatbelt and enjoy your trip. ;)

If I remember correctly, using target flag from Zora in the south targeting Dyron in the north, it says 40km ;)

Hmyeah, a bit short of a distance I think...
For two completely different climatic zones and big ecosystems.
Something is a bit askew with these distances methinks.

map presented in-game is not the "real" map and measuring distance between 2 lands by compass is not possible.

Though you can measure town -> portal, portal -> town to get the trek distance.
