I know that I also am having the same disconnect issue and am also in America. I ran some traceroutes on the 213.208.119.98 IP and did notice that I would always timeout the packets after the 15th hop (see below for last two hops of traceroute) so as a previous poster had stated, it does seem to be an issue with the transport side of the house and not any problem with either the game or the user's computer (my computer is a 3 Ghz Sony Vaio with 1.5Mb RAM, GeForce 7800 vid card with 256Mb RAM, running on Windows XP SP2). I ran five traceroutes and always had the same results.

Re: Constant Disconnects = Game Unplayable
kci54321, are you having disconnects(message: You have been disconnected), or are you getting a 'Please Wait'? There is a difference. I'm not having any disconnects, but I did have two brief FSLost's last night and also was seeing lost packets at times while playing.
I think the server ip address is now 213.208.119.193. Netstat doesn't show a connection to the server as it used to, just to http://www.ryzom.com,
but I saw 213.208.119.193 in my router logs. I can ping this address, but not 213.208.119.98.
However, it doesn't respond to a tracert either.

Re: Constant Disconnects = Game Unplayable
I personally have been an avid MMORPG player from Everquest to now. I was informed to try this game out by another avid player. I have had nothing but major headaches trying to get my router to work with this game. NEVER had i had this much problem with a game. Some people are not IT Representatives, (i am) that can sit and figure this all out. Now even after configuring my Linksys router exactly as others have posted that it would work, has it worked. I am still continuously getting the please wait and never actually getting back to a playing status. I am running on a Dell Precision 670 with duel 3 gig processors, Nvidia Quadro FX 3400 video card. Over 4 gigs or ram, I can run every online game i have at max graphics and functions with no problems till this. I like the game concept and am trying to work it out but seriously spending hours getting disconnected and playing with my settings pisses me off.
Rushing, you were out of line talking to him like hes one of a couple. There are alot out here having these problems, and aggrivation has a tendency to build when your just trying to relax to play a game.
Now im done ranting and raving and am going to try to get this thing to work again. Yes i have done both of the posts about linksys routers to the T with same results.

Re: Constant Disconnects = Game Unplayable
Greetings,
Depending on the model, an ATI 128M is fair to good for this game.
The game minimum is 64M, with recommended 128M.
what makes you think his card is not a "true 32-bit 3D card" ?
He didn't even say what model it is.
ATIs and nVidia both make "true 32-bit 3D cards".
Please name all the ATI cards that you think are not "true 32-bit 3D cards".
The game requires 64M minimum, and 128M recommended.
And you suggest 512M at LEAST?
512M or 1 GIG (!) for a game rated at 64M / 128M ?

So do some nVidia.mehanson wrote:Some overheat, some lock up, some drop textures/tiles, etc.

Some of you guys sound a bit too defensive for customers.
I'm having problems with connedction and I have a great ADSL line with pretty good PC specs too.
In game help has been great, but if I need to buy a new PC to play a game, guess what - the game is not gonna get played.
I will be trying one more session then its bye bye Ryzom for me.

If you are a North American based player, the connection fault most likely lies with Telia, the company providing the transatlantic pipeline for this game. For the past three or four weeks I've been having major connection problems. Been running PingPlotter, it always shows a problem in the first couple of Telia-based routers. BTW, the current server IP address is 213.208.119.220, and it changes with each major patch. Check this threadfor the current IP address (post #3).
Unfortunately, neither my ISP or Nevrax has any control/sway over Telia. Telia needs to upgrade their infrastructure, which I don't see happening any time soon.

Re: Constant Disconnects = Game Unplayable
Well good news - for me at least.
After much tweaking and twiddlingof routers and internet security software, Ryzom does not disconnect me any more.
I actually gave it 2 more goes though so I didn't stick to my guns. But its very pretty and I like the fact that crafing is productive and possible as a route through the results of foraging/hunting. Sales have been good to date had a whole 29000 (whatcha mathingies) to spend after my first hunter/gatherer spree. Which I managed to spend of a pair of pants !!
see you all in-game.

Re: Constant Disconnects = Game Unplayable
Reading thru all this blabber...
i have one thing to say.
The server is instable, and that is due to PROTOCOLL miscommunication.
In english that would be, the server is not sending/recieving small packets of data constantly, but sending/recieving bigger packets with a 0.92 second pause.
If the server was in constant communication, (even with dummy data) the connection would not time out with some modems. Especially in THIRD WORLD Countries. Not all the world has SUPER fast internet, so they should consider fixing this issue.
Some countries are behind a FIREWALL that is installed by ISPs and that slows down the connection. Or some are limited connection.
For example my connection is PORT limited. Some (most) ports are disabled by ISP. For me from port 1111 - 30499 and 47855 - 60000 are blocked. Due to may P2P and Torrent programs use ports within that range.
I was reading on a different string that the server is using ports 47851 - 47860 and 1000 - 3000. This mostly falls into the same ports as most P2P and Torrent programs use.
I hope this information is usefull for the TECH SUPPORT, and the problem will be solved soon.
This game is FANTASTIC! I love the community it feels like a huge family. I like that in a game, where you feel like you belong. Too bad we still have glitches.
