Howdy! Newly arrived from the Island...

Post by snuggle »

My ingame name is Jaff.

I am a freshly arrived Tryker, hoping to specialize in Magic/Crafting/Prospecting, and I hope to find a good guild to join. A bit about me...

U.S.A west coast "old-fart" from Oregon. I play early mornings before work, and for a bit in the evenings. I have played AC1 (Solclaim, retired) and WoW (still do, but slowly backing out of playing) and have been a member of the same guild, Strife, for many years.

I hope to find a group of mature players who share my interest and know how to have fun ingame and are supportive of each other. Thanks!

Well... if I am Tryker I probably won't associate with Kami? That leave nuetral or Karavan... but I honestly don't know what impact such a choice means.

I would participate in PvP, but I don't have a burning desire to focus on it. As for role play... I would say I like a bit of it, but I don't go all out for it. I do respect those who enjoy the RP aspects of a game.

(IC) Jena loves you, young Tryker, and hopes you won't be lured by the evil Kami's desire to control and corrupt you. The Karavan will welcome you as soon as you build up your experience and fame with them.

(OOC) For now, stay neutral. You've got time to learn. Neutrals have good access to the low and mid-level teleporters anyway. You'll probably end up choosing a guild first. From there, learn and grow and make a decision when you are ready.

Yes, as a Tryker, the path to becoming a Karavaneer is a bit easier since you start with positive Karavan fame. But if you fall in love with a Kami guild and want to pursue that route, it's not impossible. Just a bit more of a grind doing fame missions.

That description makes you like more people than you might think.

Feel free to shoot an ingame note to any of our officers for information about Pegasus Foundation (Kyella or Lyranna are especially good at helping new players). Or stop by our website if you want any information on us. (see my sig)

This list should help you out with finding guilds, what they're about & how to contact them. :)

Welcome to Atys, Jaff! :)

The guild listing is here:

http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23509

All of the Tryker ones are active. Aeden Artisans and Ballistic Mystix are the most American-based of lakeland guilds (and also Veni Vidi Vici although it isn't listed as Tryker). But your early morning hours might fit well with the others. There are Karavan, Neutral and one Kamist Tryker guilds. You begin life as a Neutral. If you choose stay Neutral then your teleport spots are restricted in the Prime Roots and highest level zones (although some believe that the upcoming spires will balance that situation by disadvantaging the factionalists too). If you remain Neutral then you cannot participate in tagged PvP - but that combat is rewardless, "just for fun" at the moment. Choosing Kamist or Karavan will determine, to some extent, your side in the battles over outposts and eventually spires.

I recommend spending a some time seeing which guilds fit your schedule and playstyle before choosing. Feel free to contact me ingame.

Edit: I feel so slow. Two responses put in while I wrote that. :)

Welcome. Yup Venvidivici is technically a Matis-based guild, since that is where our guild hall resides. However we have an outpost in the Lakes and we have a fair share of Trykers in the ranks, and I'm a Zoraï! We're neutral, but you got some good advice. Take your time, feel it out. See where you think you'll fit. Check out the guild roster post and the links there. Feel free to drop me a line in game if you want to chat.

Oh, and have fun. :)
