The answer we got from Nevrax when this first came up was they didn't want the possibility of 2 people in the game guild on opposite sides of a tagged pvp fight. I suspect you don't like that answer, but that's what it was at the time.

I’ve had good times in other games where the PvP combat was restricted to certain zones. These were good when they were a combination of skill, strategy, and good sportsmanship, especially so with a good team leader.

I also know of the forms of PvP that are not so enjoyable. These I avoid.

As far as the Faction discussion goes, I can enjoy a good planned session of PvP (Factions) from time to time, but not as a main focus of my gaming.

My main game enjoyment is building up my character in a broad spectrum of abilities, in a friendly guild environment. Running either solo, or grouped, as the urge and opportunities of the moment direct me. Events are a big plus!

I get the impression that, if I go Neutral that I cannot do any FvF. I don’t choose to totally exclude any aspect of the game if it has been done well.

I am concerned that if I do choose a Faction that I would be expected to do FvF, regardless of whether I lack desire to do so at the time.

I guess that I am Neutral at heart, with the desire to try everything that the game offers, but only when it seems right at the time.

For the time being at least, I’m Neutral, with access to a number of teleports, and getting reacquainted with the game. I’m glad there is a lot to learn, that makes it interesting. :)

That's correct

I don't believe that's the case. There may be some guilds like that, but in my own guild (strictly as an example), we do not require anyone to PvP even if they are capable of it.

Surely that should be up to the individual players?
Doesn't make sense to impose a mechanical restriction on that. IMO.
