Lvling and the like

So, last night I started thinking about lvl'ing skills and such and I found myself thinking one thing...

Once I lvl things all the way lets pretend... what is there to do in Ryzom?

Like other than senseless killing of random mobs. Or boss hunting. What is there to keep players interested in the game once they max our skills?

Now, I understand what a huge undertaking "maxing" skills would be. I'm just curious what there is to do other than lvl new skills up or just kill things left and right. Like are there any plans in development that i'm unaware of or something.

So much time wasted thinkig about gaining levels, and what to do when there are no more, it never fails to amaze me!

There's no need to wait until you have maxed all your levels, you can start to look around straight away, find a place in the rebuilding of homin civilization and make it your own.

Rush headlong through a bunch of levels and you'll miss most of the fun. Then when you're Avatar of Destruction you'll look around and think, pah! this is too easy, where's the challenge? how dull!? Reaching the top of a tree doesn't mean you've done everything you can on that tree. Unless you've devoted a year or so to it then you probaby passed over more little knots and holes than you noticed.

Atys is a big sandbox of umm, dust ... and Ring is coming upon us like a Deluxe box of Lego. It's all ours to make of it what we will (Of course, I wanted Technics and instead we're getting Knights of the Realm )

To name a few:

Live official/player events
Outpost battles
Ryzom Ring - virtually limitless potential imo (coming soon)
Spires - faction v faction controllable points (coming post-ring)
Boss Hunts
Searching for rare materials - through harvesting/exploring/boss hunts as above
Exploring the world of Atys - I havn't seen it all yet after 2 years, and I'm still amazed when I see something new
Role play
PvP - duals/Outposts/Spires/Arena/Factional Flagged etc
Learning non-level dependant skills - things like learning how to sneak around aggro mobs etc
Invasions
Raids - There are several Kitin nests in Atys, these can take lots of people to raid, and are a hell of a lot of fun

Those are things I wanted to hear. I know what rushing through a game and it's lvl's does. But until you're at the top you can't see what the view is like... which is why I needed to ask what I asked.

I think Jamela said it very well. Why only focus on all levels and then wonder what to do? To me, this game has always been one of exploration and subtlety. No ways of reaching next region by just following the road or just do quests to lvl.

The sandbox Atys is, and the 'feeling' of the game makes me come back everytime.

So.. what kind of RP is going on?

I can only tell you from our german Server Lenaon and from reding the english forums, that there is pretty good RP going on.
Everyone has it´s own style of play, so it´s pretty hard to tell "what kind" of RP is going on.

Just emerse yourself in the day to day workings of Atys. You will see how Homins react.

But as an adive, a quote I picked up around here:
"The Winner in an MMORPG is not the one who has maxed out after a month and then does not know what to do anymore. It´s the one who still enjoyes the Game after a year of play."
