After playing a week I have to say that I really do love this world that has been created. However, I have a number of questions that I have not been able to get answered in regional chat (hard to type it all out while people are busy etc.).
The first is on conning mobs. OK.. I understand the two boxes are for aggressive critters and the second is for the degree of difficulty.
Now... I am not color blind. But it seems to me that this is always green. I squint and try to distinguish one shade from another and it seems... just seems that there might be a difference. However, the named mobs sure look durn green to me!
The fact is that as a mage my normal mode of travel from town to town is: attempt run; watch compas and plot a route between any dots (all dots look the same frome the gentle critters to those who whip me good); wait until I get something nipping at my heels (always happens); knowing that there is NO WAY I can outrun; I turn and engage; if there is only one I might win or I might not but I am too damn busy to write notes down about which ones I manage to kill and which wipe me out; if I win, rinse reapeat....
However, what normally happens is that one or two more join in and I end up getting to my destination by insta-death bus route. In that case I have no idea of the strenght of the mob that killed me or which one did etc.
The fact is that I remain clueless and confused.
Can anyone help on this? I am a bit near sighted but I am not blind. I have a top PC with one of the best video cards out there. If that box is supposed to be helpful, I should be able to set colors. I mean, I could be color blind or visually impaired.
Oh... and along those lines... does any one know if one sprightly = another? or are they within a range of difficulty. I would assume the latter and it seems like that from experience... but again.. a dog is a dog is a dog to me until I get this all sorted out all of them keep me from getting to Dav from Yrk.
Thanking you for reading this....

conning mobs
Re: conning mobs
I do believe it is supposed to be expressed in shades of colors. They are very, very close to each other, though. It might be nice to have a numbering system instead, or at least some markings that indicate what level their skills may average out to.ixils wrote: Can anyone help on this? I'm pretty sure that the order of difficulty/levels is always the same, such as Vigorous is always easier than Growling. However, species to species, what the titles mean differs -- a Growling Gingo is a lot harder than a Growling Ragus for example.ixils wrote: Oh... and along those lines... does any one know if one sprightly = another? or are they within a range of difficulty. I think the problem is more around my lack of ability as a mage to kill anything at the moment. Having no armor, I need an escort anywhere. I now have a few levels of fight so will try to wear heavy armor to travel in just to see if I have better luck.
I will probably need a packy in each town though...
I can not figure out the logistics of this though.
I hear that mage damage is gonna double. However, this combined with the fact that it appears that mobs will be hitting twice as hard I think my situation is gonna be the same for a good long time.
heh

Re: conning mobs
Hiya, this was my reply to a previous similar post :
There's a big variety of mobs you will discover as you start leveling/exploring.
Now the problem is how to consider a mob when you see it the first time.
As far as i know the 2 small boxes in the target window are kinda broken for the moment ( hopefully it will be fixed soon).
However the color around the targeted mob itself works perfect & tells you its level range.
I've been using these charts for a while & it works great for me :

Hope this helps

Re: conning mobs
You are only in majestic garden, as soon as you move out fromt here and cross either the north or south border you will see different colors on the force indicator. Though the route from Yrk to Dav is relatively safe, except the gingo spot right after you leave Yrk. Try to avoid this one spot and take a longer route like from near the green seeds and stay very close to the PvP arena. If you are a pure mage you really need to be sneaky and get atleast 2 hits in before they reach you, always stop and look arorund after a few meters.

Aye... your tip and the one about the colors around the mob are MOST helpful. Thanks.

Re: conning mobs
It seems to me...the aggro color box is broken, the other is not, it will give you the level range of the mob...the MOST helpful is the color of the selection bracket as it seems that it changes depending on how difficult the mob is to you. I am assuming it goes by your highest lvl in melee or magic but not sure.
Re: conning mobs
attack something. if you live you can take it. If u cant, find a smaller version of it
Re: conning mobs
As you get to harder creatures the colors change. Most of what I see is a bluish color and some green, however, the harder monsters turn to Yellow/Orange/Purple based upon monster level. I am fairly certain that the level of the monster indicates the color of the monsters level. As you move further from town and start to see unfamiliar creatures you will notice the colors changing, but monsters that are lower level than you (even if they are aggroed) will be green to you. Higher level monsters will be harder colors.
