Hi, all !
I\m only 2 days playing Ryzom, and have several questions. hope, You can help me :
1) how many lvls are in the game ? Up to what lvl can I progress ?
2) is it possible to see map of this planet with all locations, cities, ets ?
3) in video for E3 I've seen thech-looking ppl, with "blasters". Is it a Fantasy world, or it is possible here to become a playes with "tech" equipment ?
4) I'm on a noob island, got 30+ lvl and now my fighter have 2 possible ways of fight - melee and range. Unfortunatly I've found no range weapons / trainers in noob island. Is it possible to play range combat ?
Thanks for helping me.
several questions from a noob =)
Re: several questions from a noob =)
1) Levels: Well, that's a pickler, actually. The quick and easy answer is 250. But that's 250 in each of the 4 skill trees.
Add to that, this; each of those 4 major skill trees branch again and again and again. This ends up with many possible 250's per tree.
So, later on, once you've grown a bit and someone says "what level are you?" Well, first off, you'll know you're talking to someone that just doesnt get it yet...and second, you'll ask them back "level in what? melee? magic? craft? harvesting? 1 handed swords? pikes? autolauncers? defensive magic? offensive magic? (I dont do magic much so that's as far as I've ever gotten in that tree) armor? medium armor? light armor? desert harvesting? forest? ...could ya be just a bit more specific?"
2) Yeah, but I forget how. Not sure if you can from newbie island..but from mainland I remember you can see the whole world in various levels of detail.
3) Yeah, you can have firearms but this world is devoid of metals so the firearms tend to be a bit more "organic" that the usual "blasters". And "blasters" tend to be carried by karavan and karavan are a bunch of evil con artists and followed by a bunch of easily confused homins...so be careful around them folk.
4) want to learn ranged fighting? well, just add that to the other reasons for payin up and headin off to the mystical magical "real world" of the mainlands
I do hope you're having fun and continue to enjoy your time in Ryzom.

Yes, ranged craft and in turn fight aren't introduced unil you reach the mainland.hark71 wrote:You mean - only in "real world" I can start to study ranged tech combat ?
Ranged is a much more complicated skill to use and can be extremely frustrating at early levels while you're learning. I think it was left off the starter island to get a little more experience under new players belts before they attempt it.
The basic problem is ammo, you'll need lots of it. Your only options are to buy poor damage NPC stuff off merchants (on the mainland) that is very expensive and ineffective, or keep your harvest and ranged craft at the same level as your ranged fight to harvst mats and make your own high damage ammo.
My general advice for those interested in ranged is to work your harvest up to lvl 50 and get a nice base in craft before you start. It will be much easier to get some ammo together quickly then and hopefully you'll have learned the good damage recipes by then to make it effective.
The ranged fight trainer is the same as melee fight trainer, the skills you'll most likely be using for basic attacks are accurate attack and increase attack rate. When bored of harvesting it never hurts to work some melee and get some skill points that will help ranged, or do some magic as well for basic healing skills.
I'd be happy to talk about it or answer any other questions, so feel free to send me a /tell in-game and we'll chat
Welcome and enjoy your stay on Atys!
