Hello all,
I couldn't find the answer to my question based on a few quick search words. My problem is that, normally, when the ryzom client loads, it automatically "brightens" the screen. There are times when it doesn't during client start up. When the screen doesn't brighten, I am unable to adjust video brightness settings in game. I am unsure which pertinent system info are required to identify my problem, so I'll just respond or edit this post later on when some of you ask specifically what system info is relevant for me to post.
For starters, my system specs include
Pentium 4, 2.40 GHz
1.50 GB RAM
Running Microsoft Windows XP Home Ed (2002, serv pack 2)
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
In the past, what I'd done is just do a system restore. But I'm unable to do that at this time, so my screen has remained dark and I'm unable to adjust video brightness settings in game.

Re: Screen brightness
You may need to change the windows settings for your adapter, video drivers or video modes.
Run the nVidia control app and make sure that things like Antialiasing and anisotropic filtering are set to 'application preference'.
OpenGL works best for Ryzom and nVidia based cards. You can make sure that Ryzom is running this by checking in the 'game configuration' and clicking on 'display'.
As to video driver, make sure that you have 71.89 or later of the official nVidia drivers. Beta and Omega drivers will usually cause problems with Ryzom.

Thank you much. Seems problem is solved with updating drivers.
