Hey, I just picked up the free trial of the game, and at around lv 17 in craft, I picked up jewelcrafting.
I can't use it and can't quite figure out why - I think it might be one of three things.
1. I don't have the right tool (can't find where I would buy one)
2. I don't have any recipes (shouldn't it give you one basic recipe?)
3. I'm not 20 in craft yet (In that case, why would they let you get it before?)
Can someone help me out with this?
BTW, liking the game so far, seems pretty standard MMO fare, but with a few cool things, I really like the crafting system.
Thanks,
Gryf
Jewel crafting for lowbies
Re: Jewel crafting for lowbies
1 to the right of te raw mats merchat theres a tool merchant building, buy a tool from there
2 you`l get the basic earing crafting plan as soon as you purchase jewel crafting 1 from the craft trainer, from there its 25sp per new jewel piece plan, you probably wont get all the plans untill you reach level 40 or 50. * different jewel pieces to learn. You`l find that once you can dig well enough (lvl 50 or so) you`l love exploring finding different mat types, from there you`l experiment and find your own recipees, it sounds daunting, but dont be afraid, you will find them easily
3 you can get it at any level as long as you have the sp (skill points) available
extra tips...
get the diadem plan next, uses more mats, therefor more xp per craft (less clicking)
jewel crafting the most profitable craft type, its hard but stick with it, once you got all plans, everyones gonna love you
alongside buying the jewel plans buy HP boost (40 sp a time) this puts a boost on your jewels, again expensove to start but worth it in the long run, a full set of hp boosted jewels ql 250 will add 1250hp to a persons stats. People also use focus boost when digging, don`t worry too much about buying Focus Boost just yet

Re: Jewel crafting for lowbies
another question. Is it possible and/or plausable to advance in both armor and jewel crafting?
I'm still unsure how the skill system works, I know 250 is the cap, but could you conceivably get 250 in all the crafting lines or do you have to specialize in one.
Is there a hard cap on the amount of sp you get?
Same question for casting, could I max out defensive magic and offensive, or must you pick one.
Also, is there a craft calculator out there somewhere where you can test different combonations of mats and see what the final product will look like?
Thanks,
Gryf

Re: Jewel crafting for lowbies
all jewel pieces have same mat count. earrings will do just fine (and are better choice than diadem/pendant from overcrafting point of view later).kiexa wrote:get the diadem plan next, uses more mats, therefor more xp per craft (less clicking)
you can max all skill tree branches, no restrictions.griff133 wrote:Same question for casting, could I max out defensive magic and offensive, or must you pick one.
... and there is more sp's that you ever need.
nope, not for public anywaygriff133 wrote:Also, is there a craft calculator out there somewhere where you can test different combonations of mats and see what the final product will look like?

Yes you can follow as many crafting trees as you like.griff133 wrote:another question. Is it possible and/or plausable to advance in both armor and jewel crafting?

Yes you can get 250 in all of the trees if you have patience.
The only hard cap on sp is whatever 250 in all trees gives you.
There are more crafting trees than foraging trees. So, if you don't focus on just one thing, you'll find your foraging getting ahead of your crafting. No harm in that, but you might want to focus on one craft tree with one land's mats (that's how the forage tree splits; it's by land type) and then follow the other craft tree with the other land's mats.
Yes, and actually there's even more of a split than just that. Defense splits to healing and afflictions. Offense splits to elemental and afflictions.Same question for casting, could I max out defensive magic and offensive, or must you pick one.

Re: Jewel crafting for lowbies
advancing in multiple craft trees to 250 takes 6-12 months +
only a few homins (peteJ, haddo, fasinus, Scarazi, Dollydagger, Anissa, Snake, Yoshi) have mastered all branches in one skill set eg armour jewels or weapons.
many homins have one craft skill tree 250, a few like PeteJ, Snake, Anissa and Yoshi have 250`s in different craft skill branches, so not impossible but you gotto be nuts and pretty hardcore if you wanna achieve it in under 18 months.
But then again, you dont need to be master, any craft level is an achievement and you will have lots of customers.
another tip, if you have no desire to level weapon craft at all, level weapon craft to level 65 or so the extra sp you will get from those craft levels will help greatly in buying armour and jewel plans
tip 2 talk to Snake (Euro Tryker player), hes the only one i heard did all jewel branch craft to level 250, and master armour crafter too, he will be able to give better tips than me

eep yep Blaah`s right, i`m stuck in the past
Re: Jewel crafting for lowbies
THis seems kind of counter intuitive to me. End game would appear to have people with eventually (however long it takes) essentially the same abilities (ie. all of them). Especially with crafting.
Is the game just not to this point yet? How is the market end game?
It seems to me there will be a lot less diversity since the game does not force you to make choices. Only which one you will focus on first.
E.I. You put together a group, you don't need to find a healer, tank, and support because one of your mages could just throw on his Tank gear and switch to that tab of skills.

Re: Jewel crafting for lowbies
nah not at all, the people i listed above have totally different ways of playing the game, different views, different factions, different recipees and different abilities.
underlining fact is to be the most powerful homin (in the sense that you speak of) be master of all jewel craft, 2 handed axe melee master, 1 handed spear master, master prime roots forager, master axe/spear crafter, master heavy armour crafter. But No-one is this, and never will be, and even if they were, theres alot more to learn and be knowledgable about than just levels.
at launch a guy called Itachi in the guild of Angels of Atys was the most powerful on the server, master of all 4 magic trees, no-one could beat him in PvP.. now hes rated number 13 in the wow alltime pvp standings, it really does take skill aswell as levels to be that great.

Re: Jewel crafting for lowbies
basically craft cant be explained in one thread, but totally dissagree that all homins are walking towards being the same clones at the end. Forget how many but there is something like 18000 levels to be gained in atys, not one homin has breached 10000 i doubt
