Prospecting multiple nodes is waste of SP

Half the time, by the time I finish harvesting the first node, the second one is unclickable.

How do I make these nodes last longer?

I don't mean harvest time, if I get the "5s more harvest time" that will just compound the problem, I'll NEVER be able to get to the second node before it poofs on me.

Really starting to IRK ME OFF!!!!

You may have sort of answered your own question... everyone has a different style...

1. remove the source time instead of increase.
2. add more sources and they will remain longer.
3. purposely kill a source using an aggressive mode to get to next quicker (without dying).

vguerin, of course, would know the ins' and outs' of diggering much better than I would and any guidance you can squeeze out of him would be golden.

But...

I always thought of multi pop prospecting as more of an initial source scouting technique.

Being able to throw a wide spectrum popper gives me an idea of what's in the immediate area, approximately where the source boundaries might be and where other specie of mats might be a few steps away.

Of course, it really helps to also have "knowledge" skill.

I shoulda said gave instead of gives above. All my current toonage is still in the baby steps phase of doings. I have a habit of deleting my toons when canceling account and I've canceled Ryzom a few times.

1 I haven't gotten the source time stanza yet.
2 Adding more sources now
3 Going to have to wait until tomorrow to see what happens, past my bedtime.

Currently have it setup
Prospection>
range 2 (10 meters)
Angle 2, (40 degrees)
up to fine materials (would I get up to fine if I didn't have this here?
multiple sources 1
prospecting counterpoint 4 (maxed)

45 / 70 points
got extra 25 points for adding more stanzas

anything wrong with the above?

no you would not get access to fine mats without that stanza.

"up to fine" will pop basic or fine, depending on whats at the source.
"fine only" will only pop on fine sources and not on any basic
"basic prospecting" will only pop on basic sources.

You might also try teaming up with someone that can harvest your other pop. If you were teamed up, you'd get xp for them digging your source.

if you only prospect 2 nodes, then you can only dig one of them.
with prospect 3 nodes, i think, it was possible to dig 2.

at lvl 250 ;-) you can prospect 10 nodes.... and only dig 3 (or 4) of them, so dont worry ;-) (and no, prospect X nodes is not waste of SP).

Each extra node that you pop gives a longer time that the nodes stay up. So, pop 3 sources and you can dig two (if you are quick to swap from the first to the second), pop 4 sources and it is easy to dig two of them. By the time you get to six or eight sources, you'll be able to dig three of them.

Also, when you get to higher levels, not all the sources have the maximum number of mats that you can extract, so it is good to have a bigger choice of sources.

You will never get enough time to dig 2 out of 2 nodes. you will get enough time to dig 2 out of 3 nodes ;)

The more nodes you search for, the longer they stay up.

At the moment, I dig 4 out of my 10 nodes (which will go down as I level in the various lands since the higher the level stanza you are using the longer the pull is).

Good question and good answers!

As a fairly novice digger, I've been wondering myself how to keep those @€£€€$€ sources up long enough to be extracted. (I might have invented one or two new curses when trying though.)

/me wonders why people seriously complain that nodes aren't very useful when digging solo
