To all the SWG players..'I refer to PRE CU mostly as that was me too'.
I Played SWG as a beta tester and stayed with the game right up to it's end, yes...it really did end at the CU (but that is not the real point here).
I took the usual route after leaving SWG of looking at most of the games on the market....heck, I even became quite good at Battlefield 2, though I never quite made the back to my comfort zone in Unreal tournament where I was quite skilled in online matches ..(anyone who met 'MASTERBLASTER' will confirm this).
I still have a thousand screenshots of SWG on my drive, I still smile when I think of the friends and events in SWG. I even have several RL friends from Galaxies I still keep in touch with......But I do not try for an instant to compare Ryzom to SWG.
it is as useful as comparing my first love (some would use another word) with my Fiancee.
They both hold special memories that will always be with me, and I never compare them. To the Hardcore SWG players I say...never forget the times you had ingame, But allow Ryzom a clean slate when you look at it...and you will learn to stop comparing and love the place, Just as I have.

Re: Galaxies players please read
I'd played Dark Ages of Camelot for 2 years before playing this game, and at first I felt the urge to compare the two (I wanted to make a Thane here hehehe) But seriously, after playing this game a while, it got to be like comparing apples to oranges, they were that different. I applaud the original poster's attitude; remember the fun you had in the old game, and give this one a fair shot, no preconceived notions about anything. I also believe you'll be glad you did
Re: Galaxies players please read
I am a vetran SWG player, just like this original poster and right now, after the latest hash of the NGE upgrades on SWG, i am looking for a new home. I just want something that will keep me hooked and hold alot of potential like SWG did. I have played WoW which is a great game but its too quest driven for me, hence, im trying out this game.
The main asspect im looking for is to be able to log on and ALWAYS have something to do, not to become say lvl 60 on WoW and thats it, game over.
Also, im hoping that the PvP will have me hooked also.
Any input?

I believe you can ALWAYS find something to do in Ryzom. Once you reach 250 in a skill, that isn't the end of the road by any means; since this game is skill-based, you have plenty of skills to raise, not just one. As for pvp, folks who do it seem to really enjoy it, so I'm sure you'll have plenty of opportunity to take part in that as well.
