What did we all do while Ryzom Patched ?

Well, by yesterday morning, my wife had started making the hand crafted christmas cards she does and kept asking me to check the status page, so I decided to make myself a dinky computer, yes I love my Ryzom machine, P4 3.4ghz, 2gb of DDR2 Ram, ATI X800 256mb, Audigy 4 sound card and 360gb with 22" monitor and windows xp, don't get me wrong I love it, but lots of my old games don't run on xp so I sat down with old parts i'd been keeping around.
Yes I have room on my desk for a second pc lol.
A gigabyte GA7 motherboard, an athlon 1 ghz cpu, 256mb ram, 30gb hard drive, on board 128bit soundblaster, 15" monitor my only pushes into the new age being a FX5700le graphics card and a 550w power supply.

one registered copy of windows 98 and upgrade disk of second edition.

oh god I prefer XP after trying this, the hassle, the wonderful "please insert IDE bus driver software" when it has happily just uninstalled the generic bus driver meaning my drivers on a cdrom are no longer accessible.

Well 18 hours later and last night it was finished.

With a full dos system and 98.

Homeworld
Realms of the haunted
Total annihilation
Blood 1 and 2

all run flawlessly

I have no life, well outside of my wife, pet, 640 dvd collection of scifi B movies and computers.

Sounds like a good life to me, well, except for the Windows 98 part of it Ever considered running Linux on that box? Looks like those games can be run with Cedega (Windows emulator).

OMG Lixivium, you didnt install fallout 1 and 2? That is a travesty i tell ya. Having built an old school pc and not installed this 2 gems. Then again they run perfectly well on my winxp. Nonetheless....

Acually fixed my car (just needs tires and tags now) and played Toca race driver 3 for Xbox and Suikoden ps2 AND Ring of Red - Ps2 *looks around* I drove my car down the road (in town with no tags or insurance ) that pretty much covers it
