It is a SAD day on Atys!

Post by rekyrom »

My homin friends, I bring you sad news today! I have been told today that a true friend is going to part us in RL, most of you must remember my friend (and I hope yours to) Dardis. I met Dardis a long time ago in RL it's been since the beginning of SoR and ingame it has been a lifetime!

Dardis has been a true friend to me always (I apologize if I seem to ramble but this really weighs heavy on me), I along with many others would spend endless nights rezzing him as he was always blowing up in nodes and mostly in Flaming Forest is where you would hear his cries for help. We starting using TeamSpeak and b4 you knew it we were talking on the phone.

I remember a lot of complaints with him but he stood proud and very few peeps knew that he was a playing a game in a dangerous land with only one eye and one hand and just as bad A 56K MODEM... Dardis (Dennis Ardis) would just shake it off and say "F" it as he worked his way to Avatar of Destruction and Master Desert Forager. Yeah his was clumsy but he was also very powerful. Kami til the end...

I tried to get him to become Karavan but he wouldn't have, so for a while I became Kami and wOw was that hard. We joined the same guild and fought side by side for a long time. after FvF I decided to go back to my roots (Karavan) and Dardis tried to go with me for about 3 days and went right back to his home in the desert. Since then he has been with AP and we would always still talk on the phone and still dig with each other.

About 5 months ago Dardis got very sick and became hospitalized, he had been through a heart transplant years ago and some of his valves weren't working well now, he also had kidney failure and was waiting for a transplant there. He had fevers exceding 104oF and morphine on the hour and somehow remembered me and everything when I would call him. There were quite a few homin we would discuss but the ones I would remember to talk for him were Chronosfera, Dalaenna, Braveganzar, Mshadow and Dorset.

Dardis, Dorset and I would hunt some nights til we fell asleep at the keyboard and somehow Dardis would always get us killed. We would try to be his eyes for him but the cutler were fierce.

About 4 months ago Dardis was about to lose his Ryzom account and his wife Judy couldn't figure out what to do, she knew it was his life away from pain and disposition, so that is where I really took over and brought his account up to date as I'm sure many of you have seen him on from time to time, sorry to say that was just me updating peeps. He gave me plenty of hope that he would return right up to the end. The End, man that is really 2 very strong words and that is the only thing in life that we are most sure of is The End.

Well I don't want it to stop here and I hope you don't either. I will be making an appearance with Dardis's character this weekend and he will speak to the Kami once more b4 he goes where all the other good Kami go.

I ask that you also please, please, please say something here for him and also in your heart (for those of you whom believe as he did) a prayer! I will be sending this to his wife in time when she is ready, she would sit at his side many times and communicate with him and his friends on Atys and I know she will be pleased to see and hear a few words from his friends. Even if it is only a few words, this is better than none.

May the good Lord rest his soul and may the kami give him peace within. I say this for Dardis as he truly was my friend.

Until THE END,
Rekyrom

To lose someone whom you think highly of is always a sad thing.
There will be a void that seems impossible to fill, but this void is nothing bad as it is a sign of how much this person really meant to you.
It is a reminder of kindness and joy, the memories you shared, the hard times and the good times.
Perhaps the person is gone in a way, bu he will always live in your hearts and memories, this way no one is ever really gone.

I have met him a few rare times, yet never really had the opportunity to speak to him. Yet now seeing how dearly missed he is, it tells me of what a great person he is.

My thoughts goes out to you all.

Dennis was a righteous and perservering man, never discouraged by any obstacles. He will live in our memories.

I salute you Rekyrom

I don't know you or Dardis, but you represent something I always believed was possible. That Atys can be a haven for any disabled person; be it through sickness, handicap or social ability.

On Atys one can surpass one's own RL abilities, and be an equal among friends. And the social aspects in game are truly great. We are beings that percive, and it doesn't matter much if it is though an Avatar. We soon enough pass beyond the constraints of coping with the interface, and start behaving as true individuals.

The true greatness of this post is that it steps forward and tell of this opportunity in a practical setting :D

I am sure you have shared many happy days, and that is the whole point.

I never had the luck of meeting u Dardis ,seen the reaction of your family and friends,... I surely missed a lot .
May your memories inspire the people, giving them the courage to fight on in their lives ,to overcome the g***mn difficulties in life ,without giving up .The way u showed yourself to those that know u will burn a memory in their heart of someone they really cared for ,as probably u cared also for them .
Yet I also pray it might give them hope, pride and fill their hearts with a deep glowing warmth as u were there in their lives and the other way around.
To all those who share these hard times ,I wish u the strength ,and the belief that if u all carry him in your heart he will never fade away ,being amongst u ...forever.

It is a sad message indeed :(
It makes me sad to not have met Dardis.
Ryzom is not only a game but a community with strong ties. Eventho i never met Dardis, I feel as if i had known him as he is part of that community.
I will surely be amongst the crowd to say goodbye, when this event takes place.

I think the devs should include something in the game to remind players of Dardis. It doesnt have to be a stone or a statue, just a gesture...

I knew Dardis well...when he was still a new Fyros. Kami tolerance was 0. I showed him places to dig besides north of the lake in Dyron.I helped him get a good start in Jewel crafting...we had a ruff time trying to get him to CP so it was much safer to dig his sources...I lost my temper with him and didnt speak to him for some time, later i got over it and forgave him for what are little quirl was about...Now he will be with us no longer :(
Never knew of his true state...Later a old freind to me named Brandon explaned why he would blow me up or drag aggro on my while harvesting...I felt very bad after...contiued to send /tells back and forth
now there will be no more /tells from Dardis
I wish his Family well.....and Farewell from your freind Uliaryn
May Ma-Duk guide you on the path to Shaingra-La
