No decorative dyes or clothes?

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

Indeed I can imagine how it could take some time to design decorative clothing that "fits" all the possible characters, depending on how your graphics models work. And I can also see how the developers would want to work on the *big* stuff first at this stage, i.e. player vendors and adding quests.

So I would suggest just adding a few "fluff" items each patch, just to give the devs a little fun work on the side. We don't need an entire wardrobe in one batch. Maybe start with little "cool" stuff like sunglasses or bikinis.

Yes, this is listed as a "maybe if we have time" add-on for patch 2. So, with all the more pressing fixes, I wouldn't count on it soon. ;) But, yeah, that was one of the coolest things for me to see. I loved the image designer skill tree in SWG.

Ohh.. sure... Blame it on the wife! J/K ;-)

So, as everyone has said, you don't have to look the same.

I really haven't seen a lot of people wearing the exact same armor suits.

Right now with my Zorai crafter I am making two full suits of medium armor, one for me and one for my permanent forager :) Mine is blue, (used to wear purple), and his is red (used to be green). You don't see a lot of medium armor suits like ours, so it's nice.

With my Tryker, my friend (the same player who works with me on Zorai Island) made me some nice stuff. I'm actually wearing a mixture of heavy and light armors; I have on heavy green sleeves, a light green vest, and darker (turquoise) crafter pants, and medium turquoise boots. So it's a couple nice shades of green, and I look like a mage who could double as a warrior (which isn't true, I'm a terrible warrior).

While you certainly can create armor of different colors, I don't really like how it's implemented. I think there should be a separate "dye" type of material that you add on to the pattern to create the color rather than having the core materials of the armor have color. That's so you can have the color of the armor be completely independent of the protection stats of the armor.

When I'm building armor, I do so with the desired stats in mind first and foremost. For example, if I want a high dodge modifier, I'll go through and pick the materials from the 4 groups with the best dodge modifier. Unfortunately, this immediately governs the color of the result.

I think the color should just be a cosmetic property and not directly tied to the mats that control the armor stats.

I do have to say SWG had the best "fluff" of any game I've ever played. The tailor profession was incredible. There were clothes for every ocassion and 256 colors for each item!! The Imgage Designer profession could tweak nearly everything about your character and there were new hairstyles and other things you couldn't get at characer creation.

Don't even get me started with decorating my house!!

While I like the idea of dying equipment (AC2 had dye plants btw) I think there are some things about the current system that are worth keeping.

For example - if you see someone running around in either black or white armour, you know the mats used had to have come from the Prime Roots. Personally I like that, so I'd say that while adding certain dye colours would be a good idea, I think certain colours should be restricted to the mats colour, for the reason stated above. That way you could, if you wanted, dye a white set of armour blue or whatever, but if you want white armour, you need Prime Roots mats to make it.

Colors I have seen or made are Blue, Red, Purple, green(dullish muddy color), Turquoise(sharp bright color), White, and I have HEARD of black (not as nice at basic level, but MQ level you gain gold trim on Fyros and it looks SHARP).

There are three weights of armor and four races, each of those is significantly Different from the others. There are higher abilities in crafting that medium quality, and I am not sure, but would expect a High Quality which would be STUNNING.

So three levels of armor, four races, and three weights, plus different colors. So roughly 252 different looks for armor.

I always find the armor dyes in EQ to be disgustingly GARISH, If I saw ONE more HOT PINK male Ogre I was going to SCREAM.

***editted to include HOW to get an armor color***
color is in the materials, you want red, use mostly or ALL red materials. You want blue, all blue materials. I craft light armor and heavy vest for Fyros, I charge EXTRA for all choice or higher grade, and for ALL one specific color.

You don't need all, just the maiority.

When I use 50-50 white & black for my light armors I get white ones, when I use 1 more mat of black than white I get black ones, for example. Although I heared of situations where an armor didn't got the maiority color of the mats used, but that seems to be an rare exeption.
