The Kami and Karavan?

Post by karkus »

Can someone please explain to me some things about these races? Do you have to reach or achieve something in the game to be one or can you just pick it?

They're factions, not races. :) The races are Zoraï, Fyros, Matis, and Tryker. You can choose to be any faction, or neutral, regardless of your race. However, you have to work your fame up to 30 with a faction before you can take the rite to become part of that faction. By default, you are neutral.

Kamist:
- Can activate Faction PvP tag which allows them to participate in open PvP against Karavaneers.
- Can use Kami faction chat channel while PvP tag is active.
- Can only use Kami teleports (but must work Kami fame up to 60 to use teleports in level 200-250 zones and Prime Roots).
- Kamist guilds can have Kamist and neutral members.

Karavaneer:
- Can activate Faction PvP tag which allows them to participate in open PvP against Kamists.
- Can use Karavan faction chat channel while PvP tag is active.
- Can only use Karavan teleports (but must work Karavan fame up to 60 to use teleports in level 200-250 zones and Prime Roots).
- Karavaneer guilds can have Karavaneer and neutral members.

Neutral:
- Has no Faction PvP tag, therefore cannot participate in Faction vs. Faction PvP.
- Can use a mix of Kami and Karavan teleports, but none in non-capital cities (with the exception of Thesos and Dyron), 200-250 zones, or Prime Roots. However, there are teleports that neutrals can use that are near some of those places.
- Neutral guilds can only have neutral members.

There are also the followers of Elias Tryton, but that faction is not included in the game mechanics, so they're/it's rather obscure.

I've explained only the practical differences, not the idealogical differences. The factions are complex and as varied as the individuals that comprise them. The Kami and Karavan have their traditional idealogies, but to be honest they have put aside everything in favour of their conflict against each other. ;)

Few corrections:

- Neutrals CAN get 200 zone tickets, but only some of them. No 250 tickets though.

- Karavan/Kami: no fame required for 200 zone tickets other than your fame needed to become Kara/Kami.

- Kara/Kami: Fame required for tickets in 250 zones: 33.

PR still overrides all of these so those require 60. Nexus is NOT counted as PR, so freely accessible to factioned people (but maybe neutrals too? dunno) regardless of fame.

Neutrals have the benefit of both teleporters in Nexus. The Karavan Altar is handy for Elusive Forest, the Kami plushy is not-quite-so-handy for Wastelands.

actually you need 33 to buy any tps now. I took one of our new players to get tps as soon as he got 30 and he couldnt buy Natae... Now I know natae is a 250 city, but its in a 50 zone....

Yes, it's not 33 fame, you must be Karavan to buy the city tickets i.e. "answer me these questions three, then bring me back my casket."

Both the karavan and the kami altar in Nexus are accessible to neutrals.

Race = inborn
Citizenship=achieved
Religion=achieved

example:
you can be Matis, of tryker citizenship, of religion kami
same way as you can be
white caucasian, of Nigerian citizenship, of religion buddhist

RPwise the neutrals can also have a religion or play nationalistic roles
